I am pretty easy going. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, but we do need to focus and can have fun doing it. :)
I utilize various methods for each instrument, which is determined by the students learning style and ability; needs, so this can change as time goes on (not sticking to one particular publishers materials). I have done (and continue to do) extensive research into materials available for each instrument I teach, and supplement with my own, to utilize the best out there for "YOU" for the best possible progress. While ensuring an extremely well-rounded musical education, so you can progress at the best possible rate. Since each student's potential is different, each will progress differently. This is also determined by your dedication to daily practice (the more you practice, the quicker you will progress & the more accomplished you will become). I have been playing music for 19 years, beginning on piano at age 4. Since then, I have learned the saxophone, guitar, drums, and bass, as well as cultivated a deep understanding of music theory. In the past few years, bass/bass guitar has become my primary instrument. Learning and playing music has enriched my life greatly, and I believe that can be true for you as well.
I have been performing since a young age, and have participated in multiple performing groups over the years. Currently, I am the bassist for The Hot Club of Zion (jazz) and bassist/songwriter for the Merchant Royal (rock).
I am currently attending the University of Utah and I am in the process of completing a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Performance (Bass). This program has greatly expanded my knowledge of music theory, history, and composition. It has also provided me with the opportunity to work with some of the best musicians in Utah,
I am grateful for all of the joy and satisfaction that music has given me and enjoy helping others experience the same.

As a teacher, I place emphasis on helping a student determine what their personal goals are, and then tailor lesson plans to those interests. My personal experience has taught me that the best learning environment is one in which the student feels relaxed and involved. As such, I strive to maintain a comfortable, yet professional setting, and consistently communicate with the student about what they want to learn.
Because each student's goals and interests are different, I do not use a specific curriculum. However, I intend to teach all of my students introductory music theory, fundamentals of sound science, and basic songwriting techniques. After several lessons, students will have a better understanding of music-making itself, as well as a clearer idea of what their musical goals are, and how to achieve them.
I look forward to working with you and helping you realize your musical potential.

I am well versed in music theory, both classical and jazz, including scale and harmony theory, song forms, and performance practice.
I have played guitar as a secondary instrument for about 6 years. Though it is not my main instrument, I am very familiar with the fretboard (know every note, etc.), chords, scales, and performance practice. I would be able to teach acoustic and electric guitar. I am familiar with the genres of rock, blues, jazz, and pop.
I have played piano since a young age, and use it primarily as a composition instrument. I have played classical and romantic era music, as well as jazz standards.
My upright bass playing experience has almost exclusively been jazz-oriented. However, I have played blues, country, bluegrass and pop music on upright bass as well. I am confident in teaching those styles on the instrument.
