Great teacher

My daughter has been taking flute lessons from Shannon for 2-3 years. She really enjoys her time with Shannon and has learned so much! Shannon does a wonderful job of creating chamber music groups with recitals, in which my daughter was able to take part - definitely nothing that would have been offered in her school at this level! We are very lucky to have found Shannon!

Kortnee is a fabulous teacher! She came into our home and taught my 9 and 11-year old daughters piano once a week. Both girls thrived and looked forward to their lessons. The progress they made in one year with Kortnee was impressive. We have moved out of state and the biggest regret is that we can't find another piano teacher like Kortnee. We miss her and her enthusiasm for teaching music. Best instructor ever!

Kortnee is amazing!!

I actually take both piano and flute from Kortnee. Her energy is contagious and she knows many styles of music. She is always ready to support what I want/need to do and can give me a tip within minutes that will help me forever. I can puzzle over a phrase or mood, and she will immediately "get it". She loves to see me have fun, and loves to help me over the rough spots.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I have swam competitively throughout my childhood and high school. I played water polo at Newport Harbor High and was a lifeguard in college. I can articulate the necessary skills needed for any skill level of swimming.

About Max

Hello!!

Drums - Spanish - Swimming

I'm Max, a 27-year-old business professional with a love for learning and teaching. Right now I'm saving my way up to opening a music venue; this is my dream!

I'm from the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area, and I have my own rehearsal studio in Santa Ana for music instruction.

For Spanish lessons, I'm happy to meet at local cafes, libraries or drive to the home. I have had extensive study in high school, college and in both Spain and Mexico, so I'm adequately prepared to tutor in this field.

Swimming lessons can only be accommodated at the pool of the client. I was a lifeguard for the City of Costa Mesa during college and played water polo for Newport Harbor High School.

Max is very informative and flexible with how you want to learn the drums. He helps you set goals to achieve from week to week and will get you to your final goal. He is very interesting and has an amazing musical background. He believes in practicing the basics every time you grab the sticks so that the next time you sit behind the kit, things begin to become easier and you are pushed to wanting to become a better drummer. Not only is Max all these things, he also has a great personality and is very personable, he is great at keeping in contact and he is not overwhelmed by distractions to forget about what he is teaching you week to week, what your goals are, or the type of music you want to learn.

For you reading this review, schedule a lesson as soon as you can! I never thought I would become so proficient as fast as I did. And Max you're the best!

Max is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. This translates directly into his ability to teach music. Music is a very difficult thing to teach, as it is very frustrating for a new musician to get the hang of an instrument. I'm sure it can be just as frustrating for the teacher, but you would never even get the slightest hint of that from Max. His patience with me, as well as his amazing knowledge of the drums and music, made for an experience that was very conducive to learning quickly.

He has very interesting and effective ways of getting one to pick up what he is trying to get across. If it's not clicking, he keeps trying to explain it a different way. He breaks down the basics, and shows you how to build on them one by one.

I have had brief stints with quite a few music teachers, and I can say without a doubt that Max is the most proficient in the art of teaching, and making you feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You may never reach it, but apparently that's what makes a good musician. One day, though, I know the light will be much closer, and much brighter.

Oh yeah, and he's kick ass on the drums...

Thanks again for EVERYTHING, Max!!!!

I learned how to swim in California when I was about 5 years old. I have never looked back. I love swimming and can help you learn different strokes, as well as confidence in the water. I have privately taught and helped young students with this before.
