We focus on playing and writing music immediately, the theory is second, music playing and having fun is first!
I'm 31 years old and I have been playing music in bands of all kinds since I was 15. I practiced 3 years before I actually played with anyone and once I did I learned so much more. I don't want you to make the same mistake, try out my 30 minute discount rate and we can make sure you are having fun and playing music in no time, if you want to expand into harder lessons then we can!
My prices are so I can give each student my undivided attention, even the 30 minute may go on longer if the student is hungry. At these prices I can support as many students that really want to learn as possible no matter what level lessons they buy. I recommend the hour as it will allow for most growth.
About Joshua
Guitar is the most amazing instrument to me. I got really lucky because someone gave me an electric when i was 12 and I just played it. I didn't even know they had to be tuned at first! Once I started playing with people I learned so much so fast. I also went to school for recording and am able

My goal is not so much teaching one how to play an instrument, but more broadly, to help one cultivate their own living musicality. My own areas of practice, study, and specialization are in free improvisation, sound art/Sonic sculpture, conceptual performance, and songwriting/composition. I've explored a vast number of different styles and genre. Jazz, classical, folk and bluegrass, spirituals, blues, punk rock, contemporary ghospel, electronic dance and ambient, to name a few... I love working with kids, I love teaching any age any skill level, I promise to listen, and fine tune our lesson to fit your specific personality and needs.

I emphasize developing a strong foundation in technique and ear training that will carry over to any musical genre, from classic rock, heavy metal, jazz, folk, or your favorite radio hits from today. I am dedicated to unlocking every student's musical potential, at any age or experience level, whether the student is just beginning to explore the keyboard or is preparing for an important audition. But more than experience and insight, I teach students to use music as a vehicle for creativity and expression, and develop a sense of true musicianship that goes beyond playing all the correct notes and the right time.
My home studio is equipped with amps, sheet music, instructional books, and music stands.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Robert has been reliable and patient with our 12 year old. I asked her opinion for this review and she said, "He shows me exactly what to do and makes it fun. I wish he taught my language arts class.""

I have taken lessons with David for about 5 years. He is not the typical instructor you run into in a music store. The focus is on music theory and how it relates to guitar. Instead of starting right off with a few easy songs and power chords you learn basic chord types, scales, etc... Once you have the basics down then you learn how to apply them to actual songs. The difference is that you will learn how to play the song not only as it is written but also how to modify it to make it your own. The other thing that is nice about David is he a structure set up that allows you to see the progress you are making and actually know that you are getting better. That is not really easy to see in something like music where gains are slow and not easily measured. He also comes up with an individual lesson plan that allows you to work on your weaknesses and keep up your strengths. You can find teachers out there that will be easier on you but would be hard pressed to find one that will teach you as well as David. I highly reccomend to anyone who is serious about learning guitar."
