I've been teaching violin and string instruments for 10 years and my students have gone on to perform at everything from small recitals to with GDYO to as a member of TMEA All-State Orchestra. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to hold the instrument properly and play 1-2 pieces rote (without reading music), and as time goes on you'll be able to read and write simple melodies that you can also play. I specialize in the Suzuki method, typically use Suzuki and Essential Elements books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: mirror, music stand, straws and other teaching tools. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Adrianna
Violinist, Pianist, Teacher and Conductor

I graduated December 2010 from Texas Tech University. I have my Bachelor of Music with a Teacher’s Certification in the area of strings and orchestral studies. My principle instrument is the violin and studied under Dr. John H. Gilbert as a part of my degree. I continued secondary piano studies with Dr. Carla D. Cash at Texas Tech University.

In the Fall of 2010, I completed my degree by doing a full time student teaching at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. During my time teaching at Martin HS, the orchestra competed in TMEA String Honor Orchestra, where they placed third in the finals. This is the highest placement in this competition they have received since the mid-1980s. During my time in Arlington, I sat as a violin judge for region full orchestra and region string orchestra. I p
ersonally conducted 3 of the 5 orchestra and taught each class daily, either in sectionals or group instruction and conducting

At Texas Tech University, I worked two years as a teacher for the nationwide outreach program, String Project. With String Project, I would teach classes of 15 to 20 students at a time. These classes were forty-five minute violin classes held at the university twice a week. Each student had an additional thirty minute weekly, private lesson. My work, along with 4 other teachers, earned a position to lead two clinics at the annual ASTA convention, held in Atlanta Georgia in 2009.

During the Spring 2011 semester, I spent my week in the Houston area as an orchestra teacher at Fort Settlement Middle School. During my time at Fort Settlement, I ran a program of 164 middle school string musicians on violin, viola, cello, bass and harp. The orchestra ranged from beginner to upper-intermediate levels. I had the opportunity to take 3 of the orchestras to UIL contest. All three groups came back with outstanding awards, including Sweepstakes, the highest award possible.

I am a sought after violinist, pianist, accompanist, teacher, conductor, and adjudicator for several ensembles, musical organizations, and student recitals. I began my musical career at the age of eight playing the piano. I have continued to play and take piano lessons throughout my life. When I entered the sixth grade, at the age of 11, I began my violin studies. These violin and piano studies led to my eventual audition and acceptance at Texas Tech. Though one may think two is enough, I did not. After a year marching in the colorguard in high school, I began lessons on the clarinet at the age of 15 and joined the band. I continued to perform on the clarinet in the marching and concert bands throughout high school and college.

With 6 years of private, group and public teaching, I am a state certified music teacher for early childhood through 12th grade. Since the fall of 2011, I also teach full time as a middle orchestra teacher in Lewisville ISD. I am a current member of TMEA, TODA, TMTA, and ASTA. I have taught a wide range of students and enjoy sharing my passion for music making. As a teacher, I want my students to understand and learn music in many different aspects. Understanding how to read notes and rhythms is important, but combining them with the emotion and sensitivity of music makes playing any instrument fantastic. Music theory and technique are other important aspects of playing all instruments and are stressed in each lesson as well. As students practice and develop their skill and understanding, it is my desire for students to express the music from the depths of their heart.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am generally a very easy to get along with, but I do have high expectations from my students. For beginners, I run my lessons in sections with stretches, detailed warm-ups, repertoire, theory and end with an overview of the lesson and expectations for the next lesson. With my intermediate and advanced students, I expect them to come in already warmed up and prepared. I will have them play through technique exercises with brief reviews and explanations for the next expected exercise. We then go immediately into repertoire where students will "perform" prepared pieces for me. I stop and work on things throughout and then set an expectation for the next lesson for repertoire before ending the lesson.

*Note* I do expect all students to have an instrument to practice on. I highly encourage all beginners to RENT their first instrument from an instrument specialty store and not purchase one from a "department" or "super" store or online. Instrument specialty stores are always available to do repairs and upgrades with very decent prices. Purchased beginner instruments are hard to sell once grown out of. I do have names and numbers for multiple violin and piano shops in the DFW area, as well as a piano tuner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Front Room: Piano, music stand and mirror, chairs and couch, highly encourage parents to sit in on lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students will need to provide all of their own equipment. I will bring any additional books on an as need basis. I will bring my own violin to violin lessons, but students will need to provide their own with accessories.

*** Specialties ***
Kodaly and Suzuki

I teach violin from ages 3 and up in North Texas.

About Salvador
I am a professional musician and educator. I have always enjoyed and been eager to share the musical knowledge that I learned from the very first music lesson I ever had; this feeling in me has never changed. I simply love to help people who want to learn new instruments.
I am patient and encouraging, helping you to always believe in yourself and I believe and have the educational means to help you do it. Whether it is piano, guitar or some other instrument you want to learn, I can help you.
I was became entirely dedicated to music when I was 14 years old. I learned Classical/Jazz/Pop Guitar, Piano and Flute/Recorder/Alto Sax. As soon as I started learning, I started teaching. In my church there were a lot of kids that didn't have the opportunity to learn music, so I volunteered and became their music teacher passing on to them whateve
r I learned myself.
As I grew older, I kept on studying and teaching music as a church volunteer and noticed that my own skills would dramatically improve just because I was devoted to my student's learning.
I pursued a degree in Music Education in New York City at the Aaron Copland School of Music. The education and experience I gained from college, drastically improved my teaching skills and I was able to work as a Music Teaching Assistant for a private school in NYC, a Senior Chess instructor for after school programs and a Private Music Studio teacher.
Nowadays I am an active music teacher and performer, looking for new students and opportunities to share the love of music. I always reach out to people who have musical interests and want to further develop or experiment with music.

I will be very happy to be your music teacher!

As an adult picking up the violin for the first time, I overwhelmed myself with preconceived notions and ideas about what I thought playing the violin entailed. Emma has effortlessly dispelled my doubts. Her kind and patient approach keeps me focused on the actual playing instead of worrying about the details. Thanks to her guidance, I have seen great improvement since I began playing. I would highly recommend her.

I am a cellist, but as an orchestra teacher full-time I am able to implement and teach techniques for all stringed instruments. We will use a variety of supplementary books and will have fun in the process! (:

About Savana
Hello! I recently graduated in 2014 from Baylor University with a Cello Performance degree. I currently teach elementary orchestra (4th & 5th grade) in Dallas ISD. As well as teaching, I currently perform with the New TX Symphony Orchestra in Dallas and in my church orchestra on viola and cello.

We will learn a variety of pieces ranging from classical to contemporary/pop music while learning the techniques to play each string instrument! Can anyone say "Baby Shark" and "Despacito" fast enough? And I focus on music theory ---basic note and rhythm reading & writing and recognizing musical symbols.

I am also bilingual in Spanish ---fluent in reading/writing and basic in conversation (although I am continuously learning & improving my language skills!)

Each lesson is tailored to the individual's unique technical needs and musical goals. I do not believe in any "one size fits all" approach, and instead draw inspiration from several pedagogues and methods to find the best fit for each student. While technique is a major emphasis, lessons are always fun and energetic. I have taught beginners through undergraduate music majors. While some of my students go on to major in music and study at major conservatories, others simply take lessons just for fun - to have a creative outlet, participate in orchestra, or simply enjoy music for its own sake. I enjoy teaching everyone, at every age and stage, no matter the reason!

About Nicole
I have been teaching privately for more than 15 years. In that time, I've taught at arts high schools, conservatories, colleges/universities, at music stores, and out of my home. I am active as a performer, and believe that it is critical for teachers to stay relevant in the field. I have performed all over the US, South America, Europe, and Asia in both chamber and solo recitals; have been a member or sub with professional symphonies and opera companies around the country; and regularly appear with famous artists from other genres. Recent highlights include Weird Al Yankovic, Henry Winkler, Seal, Styx, Johnny Mathis, and several of the Video Games Live traveling shows.
My real passion, however, is teaching! I currently teach 40 students in Frisco ISD, and several more at my home in Roanoke. Prior to moving to Texas, I ran the String
Project at Virginia Tech, where I had the sincere pleasure of shaping an engaging learning environment for 200 K-12 string players! I also founded the Radford Youth Strings, so that kids who were not able to travel for lessons still had the opportunity to participate in music.
I value the genuine friendships that I have built with my students and their families, and hope to add you to our community!

Nicole was a Godsend for my adolescent daughter when she started taking lessons with her at age 12. She had had a bad experience with a prior teacher and was losing her motivation to play and practice. Nicole was extremely kind, patient and encouraging yet held my daughter to very high standards. Due to her instruction, my daughter was able to play in some elite pre-professional chamber groups and recently was a prize winner at a Concerto competition. Nicole always had my daughter’s best interests at heart and went above and beyond to provide opportunities for her to excell at the instrument and feel confident about herself and her playing. I highly recommend Nicole for any level of player!

The most exciting part for me of the job is to witness the improvement of my students. Nothing is better than that students learn new and advanced playing skills from me, and we can share stories to each other when we are having lessons.

I am open to students from age 5 and up, as I enjoy communicating with them and I love inspiring and exploring potentials from students. I teach students not only playing skills, but also good disciplines that will assist them to develop their own routine in daily life. Music is a universal language, we get to know better to the world by playing and enjoy music together. We have student recital every year that provides opportunities to students to perform by themselves, as well as in a small ensemble, both playing instruments and singing (ear training.) Both students and parents really enjoy their performances.

About Janetta
I’m a professional violinist who plays actively with local orchestras in DFW area. I love different styles of music, as I can get inspired by different cultures every time I play. This is how I introduce my lessons to my students. I encourage brain storming, and I like to have my students being the teacher of their own instead of just listening to me.

I have multiple music background from China and the United States, which allows me to absorb and convey different concepts of music to my students. As a young educator, I enjoy working with my students on their playing essentials, and we frequently communicate with their favorite music, or the way we can approach. I am also an ear training teacher who emphasizes music theory and sight-singing combined with violin learning. Students love my classes, as they have so much fun singing and work
ing with peers, as well as learn many theoretical knowledge that school rarely teaches.
