I have been teaching Guitar since 2012 in a wide variety of settings, styles, and age groups. It is never too early or late to begin leaning guitar!

I tailor my teaching approach for the specific needs and goals of each student, always putting their priorities first. While I am versed in theoretical approaches and using method books like the Hal Leonard series, I am also fluent in working on contemporary music with a focus on ear training and improvisation.

You'll never have to worry about having to turn down a paid gig opportunity simply because you don't know how to play that style of music. Sign up ...

About Devin
A common hurdle for beginner music students is understanding what to learn, and when to learn in. There is so much information out there from numerous sources that it’s almost impossible to know where to start. Even if you’re able to learn the basics, maybe online, or from an instruction book, eventually you’ll get to a point where you’ll need help to further develop. Unfortunately, by the time you enlist guidance, you’ve already developed bad habits. It takes twice as long to break a bad technical habit than it does to learn the proper technique from the start. Not only that, but if you don’t know what order to learn different music concept, you may jump to a subject that leaves you frustrated and confused, because there’s missing information to connect the dots. We get rid of the guesswork by instilling a strong, multifaceted music foun
dation in all of our students. Then we build onto that foundation with precise lesson plans that make learning music fun, fast, and easy! Our teaching approach explains music from multiple angles like, how to play, perform, and think about music. We also discuss how to create, protect, and promote your own music! We accomplish this by offering group, private, and ensemble lesson packages that cover technique and theory, and builds your repertoire! Unlike instructors who use a cookbook approach where they follow a recipe for every student, we curate a personalized curriculum based on each student’s short-term goals and long-term musical aspirations. Be sure to visit our website and social media platforms for more info!

You can expect instruction in three areas--theory, technique, and repertoire, or put more simply, ideas, skills, and songs. I will teach you a skill, we will discuss why and how it works, and then I will show you how to use it in the context of a song. This process can take place over a few months or a few minutes, depending on what's being discussed and the experience level of the student. I will almost always send you home with reference sheets and/or recordings. Though we sometimes learn out of books, I prefer to generate custom lessons and materials and focus on playing by ear.

About John
I'm a Detroit-based multi-instrumentalist with experience playing gospel, jazz, R&B, rock, and more. I studied jazz bass at University of Michigan, but I am certainly down-to-earth and open to teaching a variety of musical styles at many different levels. I've played bass, keys, and guitar in a number of groups over the years, and I've studied these instruments privately with amazing mentors since I was young. Because of this experience I can help a student find and fine-tune their role in their band no matter what the instrument. I can also help those students who play music privately in their own homes or with their friends to create and attain musical goals.

More than anything, I appreciate the friendships I form with my students. There is tremendous trust formed in the teacher-student relationship as we work toward shared go
als, and that is something very special to me. Essentially, music takes on an apprenticeship model. Interested beginners find an experienced mentor, gain knowledge and experience, and in turn become experienced musicians who can mentor students themselves. I've celebrated achievements with my students as they begin to perform, write and record original music, and pass auditions for groups and music schools. I derive so much pride and responsibility from carrying on my musical lineage, and I strive to help students follow their interests and become accomplished musicians in their own right.

Hi, I'm Michael Chodosh of Chodosh Guitar. I play lead guitar and am the singer/songwriter for the band Cherry Veil.
We will start studying your style of music right away.
Whether you're into rock, blues, jazz, country, classical, flamenco, folk, funk, R&B, all types of world, ethnic and religious or spiritual sounds we will cover how to play those songs that will bring you toward your goal.
On top of that, you can expect scale studies, chord studies and if you like, theory, improvising, composing, arranging, recording and even music business studies. I've been a musician all my life and I'm still studying this stuff myself!
Most of all, we will be helping you to express and develop who you truly are as a musician. Private students who attend classes at the studio also attend group lessons for free! You are in for an adventure!

About Michael
Hi, I'm Michael Chodosh. I have been a professional guitar player my entire life. I love playing, writing, performing and I love teaching music. It's fun for us both. I use systems to bring the best out of my students. I think everyone is happier when they reach their own potential while staying in their heart. My job is to help you do that on guitar! With your playing, whether that's just some strumming and reading or if you want to play standards like a pro or even shred like a monster. I can help guide you there and inspire you to reach those goals that you presently might not even realize you can achieve!

Thank you for looking into lessons with me. You've either started or you're about to improve a wonderful relationship with music! - Michael.

I started taking lessons with Michal Chodosh to learn music theory and reading music. In the time I have worked with Michael, I have learned a lot. When I began lessons, I didn't know scales or modes, knew only basic chords and wasn't able to read sheet music. In addition to that, I was barely able to follow tablature. Michael has taught me about all of those items and more. Lessons with Michael are a lot of fun. There is always great interaction between students so that newer students can learn from both Michael and from other students while becoming comfortable with learning about the guitar. Deciding to take lessons from Michael was a great decision. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning how to play the guitar.

My introduction to Michael came when he sat in with a band I was playing with....I was so blown away by his playing, I ended up taking lessons from him.

Micheal has helped open up new frontiers in playing and theory for me without ever making me feel like a dummy for not knowing things. One of the best things about him is that his teaching style makes students feel comfortable, but also challenged.

Michael has the experience, patience, and knowledge to help everybody from beginners to working professionals learn and improve. Heck, he even taught me to sing my first legitimate vocal harmony.

Time with Michael Chodosh is time well spent!

He took extra time when we first started to find out where my daughter was at in her skill and ability, made a book and plan for her, and the took extra time each week to answer every question and really try to teach her effectively. She enjoyed it and wanted to go because she was learning and improving. She even started to appreciate the homework he gave. Will definitely consider him again if the logistics work out.

I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and grew up like all of us being a fan first. I grew up playing in bands of all sorts and became a guitar tech and teacher soon after. I throughly enjoy passing down next generations with knowledge acquired throughout my years of playing, building and teaching.

About Glenn
I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and started off just like all of us being a fan first. I've played guitar , bass and drums in numerous bands of different genres primarily rock, metal, country and blues based. I soon after became a guitar tech (since I worked on all my own instruments anyways) and began giving lessons very soon after. I strongly believe going outside of one's comfort zone musically as a great way to open new doors and pathways not normally seen.
With teaching of any musical instrument, circumstances can easily force the teacher and student to frequently go outside of their own comfort zone. For me personally this helps so much with viewing things from different perspectives and with connecting with principals or methods. And developing a visual and cognitive understanding
of the instrument. I throughly enjoy teaching and passing down my acquired skills and information to anyone willing to learn. For the preservation of generations to come.

My guitar lessons are a fun loving and educational experience that I've been teaching for 20 years!! I make the learning process of reading music easy!! All lessons are custom fit to the specific needs and wants of the student. I performed all over the world! PRINCE donated to my music institute !!! Sounds like your wanting to get into music ! I've been playing the guitar along with several other instruments for years! I have experience in that field as I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston to study and have a Degree from Ohio State University.

I've taught at the college level here in the U.S. and at the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria , bringing high school and college students to study for one month performing classical, jazz and folk music and having my students perform at local venues. What a blast for the students!!

If your interested in a serious learning experience and having fun doing it, please give me a shoutout !! Greg Koss/Executive Director/ Koss

About Greg
The most important thing in teaching privately is having a solid communication between teacher and student. Patience is the essence in establishing that rapport.
I tell parents when they start their kids with music lessons , that I will guarantee that they will practice and learn. Three months later, they come back to me and tell me that their kids are practicing without them having to be told, and that their ready for recital. I have 30 years of teaching experience that helps me communicate with all levels of students.

Everyday I get parents that walk into my institute and tell me, Mr. Koss , my kids have been taking lessons (at another place) for the last two years and my neighbor kids just started with you two months ago, and my neighbor kids are already playing better then my kids, so can we quit wasting time and money and sign
up with you!!

If your interested in a serious learning experience and having fun in the process, please give me the opportunity to enrich your life with the language of the human race.........the language of music !

Jesse West is a highly skilled and in demand guitarist, and teacher with over 10 years of experience maintaining a private studio and high school combo coaching.

· Focus on Jazz Pedagogy with renown educators David Baker and Pat Harbison.

About Jesse
BIO

Jesse West is a guitarist, bassist, teacher, composer, and audio engineer from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He has over twenty years of experience writing and composing original music. Groups that Jesse has played with include heavy hitters in the Chicago and Indianapolis jazz scenes, including the Phil Schurger Group, the Clif Wallace Trio, and the Sophie Faught Quintet. He has also played gigs with Indiana University jazz professors Pat Harbison, Monika Herzig, and Tom Walsh. In 2018, West played in the Cuban Son and Danzón groups Soneros La Caliza, Orquesta Esquela Vieja lead by Dr. Joe Galvin. Jesse is a member of South American groups KelsiCote, and Matixando Bloomington based in Indiana. West was also a member of the touring indie rock group Step Softly, Ghost on the Asia Minor label.

Jesse's music is forward looking with deep ro
ots, and a definite nod towards ambient, dub and world music. His influences bounce from future soul group Hiatus Kaiyote to future dancehall group Major Lazer, with a touch of Jah Wobble in between. West likes to personalize already existing material as a viable form of new expression like in his cover of Thunder. Jesse is known to write more progressive improvised music too, like Twitter Chatter. A song which the great arranger and jazz composer Brent Wallarab helped to write. It begins with a simple motive and mutates over an ever changing form. Like much of West's writing, the composition is grounded in world influences including Brazilian jazz and Afro Cuban music among other things.

Jesse holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the Jacobs School of Music. He has studied Afro Cuban and Brazilian music with Grammy nominated artists and educators Michael Spiro and Wayne Wallace. West has also studied jazz improvisation with the renown improviser Walter Smith III, and studied improvisation and pedagogy with the legendary educators David Baker and Pat Harbison. Jesse has also studied music technology and and audio engineering. West ran live sound in addition to playing bass for the US Navy Band earning him the prestigious Navy Achievement Medal. He hopes to be an inspiration to aspiring composers who want to find their own voice. West has taught a private studio for over a decade and coached high school bands both in Indiana and California.
