Hand Embroidery
I teach hand embroidery, hand sewing and machine sewing to students of all ages. Beginning students can learn hand sewing stitches that are used in conjunction with machine sewing to finish items.
Embroidery is like painting with a needle and floss. Students can learn basic embroidery stitches to use on pre-printed kits or to create their own drawings.

About Tracy B.
4.9
(14)
I teach beginning, intermediate and advanced sewing. I have been sewing since before I can remember, for over 40 years. I teach sewing after school for several local private schools and privately at home for 10 years. I currently have 2 former online students in the Fashion Design program at Parson's!!!
I teach students from ages 7 to adult. Males and Females. I have a great deal of patience with young and inexperienced students. With older or more experienced students, I enjoy helping them bring their vision to fruition.
The first sewing lesson is typically how-not-to-break-the-machine, where the student learns about the sewing machine. Lessons on fabric and pattern layout are incorporated while working on individual projects. We typically progress from projects with only straight lines - pillows, simple skirts or drawstring bags, to projects that incorporate curves - shorts and shirts. Beginner students use 100% woven cotton for their first projects, slowly adding fabrics that are more difficult to use. Hand sewing and embroidery is frequently incorporated into projects.

Tracy B is an amazing and talented instructor as well as having a good sense of humor. I have been working with her for nearly a year. She is very flexible in our scheduling. I have a brain injury so she is extra patient with me and knows how to explain sewing lessons. I highly recommend Tracy for sewing lessons.

Working with Tracy was a pleasure. I’m a male beginner student and she made me feel comfortable and relax considering that this was my first class. She made sure I understood what she was explaining and demonstrating. I will definitely be taking more classes from Tracy.

Great teacher. Very patient and knowledgeable. My granddaughter and I loved our lesson as did the rest of my family who watched and learned. We’re looking forward to our next lesson!
