Your learning needs are my first priority. I'll ask you what you are interested in and need to learn to improve your English and build a plan from there. I welcome teaching people of all ages and meeting people from as many places as possible.

As someone who has been a museum educator for over 20 years, I like to reference a lot of visual materials and use a dialogic approach to build meaning and understanding together. Additionally, I have lived and traveled around the world, know American and British English, and I'm working on my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certificate and have two more courses to complete. I also have an undergraduate degree in telecommunication news and art history, and a graduate degree in museum studies with an emphasis on visual culture.

About Tania S.

I am a former museum educator and now a university fundraiser who works and volunteers as an English teacher. Whatever I teach, a step-by-step approach works well to build from your interests leading to meeting your goals.

The university where I am employed is also where I graduated from as an undergraduate. At the time, I thought I wanted to be a documentary writer, videographer, presenter, and producer of films about art. In the end, I chose to go into museum education since that's where I could teach through art to personally connect with people of all backgrounds to ignite their interest in the subject, especially students who have never visited a museum in the past. My passion continues to introduce art to different people, however, it has grown to include enabling more students to have a meaningful education for fulfilling lives of their own no matter what their passions. It's possible some art as visual support for your learning will enter our lessons together. :-)

My community involvement is very important to me too so I work to affect change by raising money for small and large organizations, contribute my time where it can improve the lives of others, and work with friends and colleagues to encourage others to volunteer and donate what they can too. Personally, I also read for fun whenever I can on topics to do with social change and cultural identity, practice yoga, run, walk our dogs, experiment with new dishes in the kitchen, and spend time with my family.
