Services to the Deaf
I have been teaching ASL since 1992. I am active in the Deaf community. Come learn sign with me,
I have a BA in services to the Deaf with a minor in Interpreting. I currently teach ASL for the local technology center. In my classes I teach not only the signs but also add culture. I will share personal stories and things that happened when I was learning, that if someone had told me different I would not have offended people. I will teach you by association and explain why some signs are what they are. If you are looking for a fun , and informative class sign up for mine today.

I am an instructor at the local Technology Center. I have been signing since 1990. I started out in a night college class as a junior in high school. My dad told me I needed to get a head start on my college life. I asked him what was I going to take...He opened up the newspaper and there it was...The headlines read...New class to offered, Sign Language. I enrolled the next day and have been signing ever since. I have to say it was difficult at first because I speak english, and all the words like and, but, or, was etc were NOT in the signing vocabulary.
Sign Language is not something you will learn overnight. You also have to practice or you will loose what you have gained. I still to this day practice. I practice while I am driving and well needless to say people stare at me....Oh well at least I know I am retaining my passion. I stay involved with the Deaf community as much as I possibly can. I do have many Deaf friends that well keep me on my toes at times. They like to facetime me and show me a new sign they either made up or someone has showed them and they do not understand why it means what it does. I hope you will give me the opportunity to teach you ASL. It is my passion and I love to see people have an interest.
Thank you and hope to see you soon

Starrla is great. She goes at your pace so you don't need to be nervous. She has years of experience too so she knows her subject! Ask any question and she will probably know the answer or she will research the answer. If you are considering taking ASL lessons, choose Starrla.

Starlla is a phenomenal teacher! She is patient, friendly, and has great tips on how to remember signs. I started with 3 classes and quickly booked more with her. The Instruction. She gives it clear, and I leave every class with a smile! I look forward to my classes with her every single week.
