Bonjour! 
Je m'appelle Sophie. I am excited to teach you French using comprehensible input (CI). Comprehensible input means that I will make French understandable to you using French! The idea is to emulate how you learned your first language~ with repetition of structures and vocabulary used in different ways. From day one, you will begin to generalize how the language works.  Each subsequent lesson will build on previous lessons so generalized concepts keep getting stronger while you learn new things. 

In a typical lesson, I will start by explaining the meaning of each structure and defining all of the vocabulary for the lesson. These new concepts will be woven into a story that we will read, practice, and personalize. If you already are in a language program and need tutoring, or have specific things you want to work on, I will be happy to assist you there. 

About me~ I grew up speaking French as my parents made their way to California when I was little. I don't remember learning English. I have, however experienced what it means to learn another language.  I spent two years in Ecuador some years ago and learned Spanish while I taught my students English. I later taught French and Spanish at the high school level for 8 years in Alaska, where I still am. The methods that I learned and developed through my experiences and ongoing professional development will drive the classes that I look forward to sharing with you.

My French parents immigrated to the US when i was little, so I grew up immersed in a French home. I studied French through high school and college and years later, taught French at the high school level for 8 years.
