    About Satoi A.

Hello I’m Satoi, a Japanese national with 2 daughters and an Australian husband. I’m an instructor of handmade “𝒎𝒊𝒛𝒖𝒉𝒊𝒌𝒊” artworks. “mizuhiki” is Japanese traditional paper cords which have been originally used for decoration of greeting cards and presents since 6th century. Recently, Mizuhiki has varied in colors and materials and started to adjust modern fashion. Accessories and interior items made of “mizuhiki” are very popular in Japan for its lightweight feature, as well as unique and fashionable style. I have started as an instructor at the Adult Education Center in 2019 and 2020, as well as private lessons at home during my stay in Boston. I went back to Japan in the middle of 2020 then opened private lessons after the covid lockdown. I have conducted mizuhiki workshops for approximately 400 individuals over the past year through matching sites connecting instructors and students, local facilities in Tokyo, as well as private salons. Since July 2023, I have started living in the US again (this time in NY) then set my class here. Anyone who are interested in Japanese culture, or fond of handicraft are welcome. Let's start tying mizuhiki nots from the simple form and graduate to complicated ones. I also recommend for those who particularly like the beauty of colors. You will be surprised at the gradations or unique conbinations of colors you chose while you are making the artwork. All ages above 9 years are welcome, and no need to prepare any materials (authentic Mizuhiki imported from Japan and accessory parts are all included in the fee). However, if you have pliers and scissors which you usually use, pleas bring them with you, otherwise please feel free to use ones I have. I look forward to seeing you! Thank you very much.
