Writing with Sarah D.

I am a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and have been a writer since...essentially since I could hold a pen. I come from a long line of editors and writers in my family and have always loved not just writing, but helping others improve their works as well. Writing doesn't come easily for everyone, and it can be struggle when you're in school and are constantly given assignments that include it. That's where I come in--not just to help you with an assignment, but to help you build your writing skills overall. Students are welcome to come to me for one-time editing or as frequently as they like to get an essay or writing assignment off the ground. We will work on getting your message nailed down AND getting it across in your own words. I firmly believe that the thesis statement is the most important part of an essay, and that will be one of the first things we work on. Once that is set, the rest of the essay comes easily. Working on any essay assignment with me--whether that's a college application essay, a research essay, etc--will help you build skills that you can carry over into the process of your future assignments. For those of you with essays that are already drafted, I'd love to look at it ahead of time to make suggested changes that we can then discuss in our lesson.
