English (ESL) with Sara M.

I am an experienced educator committed to helping my learners achieve their goals. I have a Bachelor's in English from Towson University and a Master's in TESOL from Notre of Dame of Maryland University. I have experience teaching beginning to advanced ESL from students aged preschool to adult. I taught Academic Writing and Grammar to community college students with a focus on peer review and the writing process. I taught functional English skills to beginning level adult learners, with an emphasis on listening, speaking, and vocabulary. In my previous position, I supervised Elementary Education majors in their field experience at two elementary schools with high English Language Learner populations. I taught my interns the theories behind second language acquisition, as well as relevant strategies and methods for teaching their ESOL learners. I am currently an ESOL Teacher with Baltimore City Public Schools. I strengthen the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of ELLs in preK-8th grade. I design my lessons based on my students' interests, goals, and areas for growth. I take the time to understand the unique strengths and needs of each student. My classroom is a fun, challenging, and engaging academic environment where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes.
