Practice casual & business conversation, or prepare for an exam with a 7-year tenured ESL instructor

I am a firm believer in controlling my "teacher talk time" to allow students to utilize as many minutes of paid class time as possible. So, enjoy this long, detailed description of why you'll enjoy learning with me. This way, you'll have plenty of assurance prior to our first class, and we can get started right away. But first: You must understand that I use my experiences as a learner to ensure that my students get the most engaging content in an entertaining manner. I cater to my students' fluency levels. I speak concisely with simpler vocabulary when I'm teaching beginners. However, upon careful consideration, I'm also tactfully detailed and verbose when teaching advanced learners. I prepare my own lessons, with proven techniques, in addition to games, music, casual conversation, textbook, and workbooks. I know what's best, because I am an experienced teacher and learner. Learning three foreign languages (Spanish, French, and Vietnamese), in addition to studying my native language (English) has made me a seasoned fan of language studies. As a result of years of dedicated self-study through media (books, articles, music, film etc.), language-learning apps (DuoLingo, Babel, Rosetta Stone, etc.), conversation and formal instruction (from other instructors), my perspective has broadened in regards to how I learn and teach. If you're looking for a teacher with teaching experience, read on... Online teaching was the norm for ESL instructors in years 2021-2022. I know this, because my usual public school schedule saw major changes that year. Instead of studying to prepare lessons for my typical schedule of grade 4 Math, Science and English classes, I was trusted to prepare lessons and teach grades 3-8. As you'll learn, I've taught English to Vietnamese students, but I've also enjoyed teaching ESL at two different Korean centers that left lasting positive impressions on me. Throughout my years of teaching, thus far, I've taught at a popular business university, I private tutored, and I taught both small and large groups of countless students (of all ages) in Vietnamese English centers and public schools. As a show of appreciation for my contributions, I've consistently been awarded raises. I've been trusted to train other teachers, discuss pertinent matters with parents, build, edit and review coursework, and provide engaging, high-quality lessons to students with particular needs. Before moving to Vietnam, I gained my TEFL Certification in Cambodia. While staying in Phnom Penh for 3 weeks, I taught young kids and teens. This was 2015. Once I graduated from the course, I moved to Vietnam. I called that charming country home from 2015 to 2023, where the years flew by! Within my first week of arrival, I began working at VUS, a popular English learning center. It was at that company that I taught a few hundred children, young teens, and teens. After a rewarding year of teaching at their centers, I was invited to teach business and conversational English for test preparation at Nguyen Tat Thanh University. By creating a judgement-free zone, and increasing overall in-class participation from each student through my games and music, I received rave reviews from all (and I mean all) of my students and faculty who never wanted me to leave. These early years helped me move forward with confidence in my new career as an educator. In summation, I followed those years continuing to gain perspective with multiple employers at ILA, Apollo 360, and finally, EMG. Over the span of 6 years, between all of those language centers I taught a few hundred more students. I taught kids (ages 3-10), adults (ages 18+), and grades 3-5 in publics schools, respectively. Teaching abroad was an incredible experience that proved that I can break down one of the most confusing subjects/languages into digestible parts in specific subjects for pleasant instruction to students of all languages, ages, and fluency levels. Teaching, in general, is a gift that keeps on giving.

<--- Music, ESL, Education ---> I was a vocal soloist in middle school, blessed to have developed under the same outstanding choral instructor throughout the remainder of grade school. I capped off my high school years by playing notable roles in musicals such as Guys and Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors, and starred as Kenickie in Ardrey Kell high school's 2008 rendition of the popular musical, Grease. I was a singer and songwriter in a 3-part award-winning band that played throughout North Carolina. I played in a band throughout high school and much of college. When I wasn't performing with them, I was performing as part of other bands, on stage as an actor, or organizing concerts and stage shows. I began learning to play guitar in 2015 then eventually performed throughout HCMC, VN venues as a singer, songwriter and emcee with active producers, rappers, singers instrumentalists and writers. I've collaborated in music studios with other musicians. I've also released my own music. After seven years abroad, I am back in the USA to share expertise, teach others, network and make more music along the way! I must say, time under tension truly does make a difference. Whether we're learning to play guitar or we're learning to sing, my lessons and prescribed practice regimens guarantee that learners will obtain familiarity with key elements of music theory. They will gain the confidence to learn or practice independently and at their own pace. This lifetime in performing arts combined with my more recent experience as a 7-year veteran ESL educator helps me clearly communicate my understanding to all skill-levels. Ongoing dedication will have my students reading sheet music, writing, and performing signature melodies of their own and of their favorite artists/songs.
