I am a certified teacher for Virginia and California with experience in teaching English as a Second Language both in the US, Japan, and Korea. I have taught students of all ages and worked as a substitute for an ESL college in California.

As a certified teacher, I also have a CLAD certificate, which qualifies me to teach using instruction for English Language Development (ELD) as well as Specially Designed Academic Instruction Delivered in English (SDAIE). Beyond this I have my Master's degree in applied linguistics and English language teaching. My courses involved in this degree included: second language acquisition, English vocabulary: teaching and learning, approaches to applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and intercultural communication. 

I firmly believe that learning a language requires regular use of the language in the individual's every day life. Therefore, I like to tailor lessons to the student's needs and interests to encourage this.

I have been teaching multiple subjects for many years, but I specialize in ESL. I have taught all ages from 6-month-old babies to 60+ -year-old adults, and all different levels of ability. I have worked as an English teacher for several years in South Korea and Japan, and I greatly enjoyed my time there. I also lived in Nottingham, England, which is where I got my Master's degree from the University of Nottingham. I love to travel and explore other places and cultures.
