Spanish with Maria Cristina H.

I am originally from Mexico City, Mexico. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the Instituto Anglo Español in Mexico. I then went on to attain my TEFL teacher certification form CEMARC in Mexico. I have been a Spanish teacher at Swain High School since 2003, and I have been teaching for 28 years. I have also taught in New York, and Mexico City. I am a member of the School Improvement Plan Committee, Homecoming Committee, as well as being the facilitator for the Spanish Club, and an ESL mentor. I have also traveled throughout the United States and abroad. My awards include Teacher of Swain County Schools, NC; Teacher of the Year in Tarboro, NC; Teacher of the Year with the Visiting International Faculty Program; Outstanding Young Educator of the Year form Jaycees; Teacher of the Year in Mariam Boyd, NC; and Teacher of the Year in Mexico City, Mexico. I am married and live in the Smoky Mountains in NC. In my free time, I love to read, cook, walk, hike, listen to music, dance, go to the movies, and have reunions with family and friends. I am honored to have the opportunity to teach my native language to students who want to learn a second language.
