Learn ESL from a passionate and experienced instructor

Teaching English is a passion of mine. I taught English for over two years while I lived abroad in Japan and am TEFL/TESOL certified. I love helping people learn a new skill whether that be in grammar, pronunciation, or conversation practice. My lesson plans include listening, speaking, and writing practice so there's something there for everyone. I can't wait to meet you and start your English learning journey!

    About Leia G.

I'm a TEFL/TESOL certified teacher with an associates degree from Everett Community College in international language. I've spend over two years teaching English abroad in Japan. I enjoy teaching English because I love to see people learning. There's a spark that people get when they learn something new that I get so much joy in seeing. Getting to know my students and seeing their growth and how they overcome the difficulties that come with learning something new is why I became an ESL teacher. English can be a tricky language but with weekly lessons you'll see improvement in your fluency. There are three main parts to learning English as a second language that I like to focus on, grammar, pronunciation, and fluency. I take what you already know and build a lesson plan from that foundation. In Japan I taught lessons at all levels of skills ranging from almost no English skills to near fluent. I've tailored lessons to work on general communication, speech practice, how to write essays, etc. Each student is unique and so each lesson should be unique as well. I've taught group, private, and pair lessons and loved each one for different reasons. Each lesson type has its pros and cons. Group lessons give students more conversation practice with others at a similar level but doesn't allow for a lot of one on one feedback. While private and pair lessons get to focus on the individual and their skills but doesn't allow for conversation practice with a variety of different people. Learning English as a second language is a commitment but one that will help you to communicate with people all over the world and has so many benefits. I can't wait to meet you and be a part of your English journey.
