English (ESL) with Karrin B.

I encourage creative thinking, self-directed learning, and creative problem-solving. By asking students leading questions, I model for them how task and answer questions to seek information. I also encourage engaged learning, contemplation, and discussion. I help my students develop skills to analyze and evaluate information, as well as create meaningful, thoughtful work. I'm excited to work with you! About Karrin B. Karrin B. is a licensed K-9 educator (Illinois) with 12+ years of classroom and 3 years of online teaching experience. Karrin creates and publishes instructional books, curriculum, games, and apps for young thinkers and their caretakers. She is an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) and Google for Education Certified Trainer (GoogleCT). Karrin has an undergraduate degree in French from University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master's degree in Teaching Elementary Education from National-Louis University. She enjoys using inquiry-based learning and design-thinking in her classroom to maximize student learning as well as encourage student voice and choice. She is also a writer, speaker, and advocate for creativity and collaboration in the classroom. Karrin lives in Oak Park, Illinois with her husband and three dogs. In 2019, Karrin founded Flying Start, an online teaching and learning community for young thinkers ages 4-7.
