About Joan S.
I learned sewing in the public school system in Home Economics. She also took an additional sewing course at a (then) neighborhood Singer Sewing company.
Joan has been a member of the Maryland American Sewing Guild since 2009. She discovered the ASG in late 2008 when attending the DC Threads sewing lounge as a participant, volunteer, then months later as a sewing coach.
Joan volunteered as a judge two years in a row for the two years in the Fairfax County 4-H Contest Day for the Fashion preview contest (children modeling garments).
Also in September 2017, Joan worked as an Independent Contractor as a Sewing Instructor for Sew Creative Lounge, a popular sewing studio and lounge in the DC area.
Joan has sewing teaching certifications as a Burda Style Certified Instructor and the Sewing Alliance.
