Spanish with Janet Prado

Hi everyone! My name is Janet, and I have been teaching Spanish for over 20 years, and I love it. My specialties include helping others become fluent in Spanish in 3–6 months. I have helped over 100 students ages 5 to 60 learn Spanish and have fun. I help my students first with the basics of Spanish, which are SER and ESTAR, in the first lesson because these are the foundations of Spanish that are used to describe yourself or other people. ESTAR (location) to identify the location you are in or other people. After that, I teach my students how to start implementing vocabulary in their immediate environment by placing stickies in their kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, office, and any other immediate environment they attend to on a daily basis. From there, we expand on more vocabulary and more verbs, and we use many examples to do this. I also assign my students audio, such as a podcast, that they can listen to. For every lesson, I will also always assign homework. The practice they do outside of the classroom is very important. I took many classes in high school, such as Spanish I, II, III, and AP Spanish, and received a 3.95 GPA. Also in college, I took advanced Spanish classes. The advanced classes that I took in college were advanced grammar, writing, and reading. To this day, I continue to improve my skills to provide value to my students. When I was in high school, I taught beginners Spanish, as this was the first time I started teaching others for free. At the University of the Pacific, I taught Spanish to others for 5 years as a tutor around my full-time schedule as a student. After college, I started teaching 1:1 lessons to students, adults, and professionals around my full-time job. My first advanced student was a lawyer, and she wanted to implement learning Spanish in the workplace. As I continued my Spanish journey, I started taking on more students on a monthly basis.
