Helen is an internationally recognized authority in the art and science of teaching Greek as a second language. She served as the Director of Greek Education and Culture for the Western United States for 25 years. Helen, a Greek native, came to the United States as a child, so she understands the challenge of learning a new language first hand. She has been recognized and honored by the Government of Greece three individual times for her 30 years of invaluable contributions toward the preservation and perpetuation of the Greek language, heritage and the Hellenic ideals in the United States of America. She was specially cited as a premier Greek educator in the United States- having mastered the art of teaching Greek as a second language most effectively - and in the shortest period of time! In addition, Helen was awarded the Medal of St. Paul - the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a lay member of the Greek Orthodox Church - for her contributions to Greek language education in the United States for 30 years. She was the Director of Greek Language and Education for children and adults for St. Sophia Cathedral in Los Angeles for fifteen years. Helen is a graduate of UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Speech, and, she is a UCLA-credentialed teacher. She was nationally awarded “Teacher of the Year ” by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge twice – for teaching English Literature and World History in the most unique and original way, at both the high school and junior college levels. Helen's unique teaching method gets students maximum results in the shortest period of time is the result of 30 years of research, field-testing, and curriculum development.
