About Haley Shea B.

Haley Shea is a Meditation Guide, Life Coach, and English Writing Tutor. She offers live guided meditation routines for Relaxation, Stress Relief, Anxiety & Anger Management, Self-Love, Mindful Awareness, Positive Attraction/Manifestation, and Creative Expression.

Haley Shea graduated from the University of North Georgia with two bachelor’s degrees in English Writing & Publication and Interdisciplinary Studies (Mathematics/Technology, Social Science, and Humanities concentrations), and an associate’s degree in Psychological Science (2020). Previously, she completed an associate’s in Communication, Film & Digital Media Studies (2016). While at UNG, she worked as a Writing Center Peer Consultant, Supplemental Instruction Facilitator, English Department Student Administrative Assistant, Writing Fellow, and Ambassador for the Center for Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities (in addition to programming stimulus displays for EEG experiments in the neuroscience lab). Her major fields of study are supplemented by three minors: Linguistics, Psychology, and Studies of English Language Learning. Combined, this background enables a flexible tutoring approach that can be customized to meet the needs of both additional-language learners and individuals facing cognitive challenges.

Haley Shea is currently pursuing graduate-level education in cognitive science, conducting neuroscientific laboratory research in psycholinguistics and brain-computer interface, and training for a career in human-computer interaction. During college, her top subjects were Advanced English Grammar and Linguistics. There, she was known for her passionate leadership of study sessions for sentence-diagramming, which inspired her laboratory research. An active community member, she was Vice President of the English Honor Society chapter and led the UNG Writers Guild for two years, helping students write and gather valuable feedback from one another, enabling them to better proofread and edit their work for future publications. Many of those writers saw their work in print through UNG’s award-winning student literary magazine, for which Haley Shea served as an editor for several years.

Other campus engagements included running the community book drive for over two years and founding an all-student improv troupe which went on to perform and compete in tournaments around the state and region. While acting helped her become comfortable on-stage, Haley Shea also greatly benefited from her time as a member of the speech and debate team, placing first in statewide debate and slam poetry competitions over the years. Her favorite topic of both debate and poetry is that of human innovation and interaction with emerging technology, especially in relation to ethical policies on artificial intelligence. Captivated by syntax in both spoken language and computer code, she is fascinated with recent developments in language-based software and hopes to contribute to the field of computational psycholinguistics while earning her PhD.

After graduating, Haley Shea knew she wanted to keep supporting other students toward their goals. A scholarship student herself, she always loves any chance to help individuals express their strengths and unique personal histories in ways that will help further their goals. To this end, she continues to mentor applicants for nationally competitive scholarships and other student support opportunities, such as the McNair Scholars Program and Goldwater STEM Scholarship, two major awards which made an immense difference toward the funding of her bachelor’s education when she was named an official recipient in 2019, in honor of her interdisciplinary research and commitment to fostering student success on campus. She finds joy in any opportunity to uplift other students--especially women in STEM, individuals facing disabilities, or anyone who seeks to improve their command of the English language. In sharing her passions with her students, she helps them break out of “analysis paralysis” into a fun, personalized routine that helps foster positive associations with the topic of study and strong metacognitive skills that lead to improved performance over time.

Special Topic Announcement: Students of English writing, grammar, comprehension, et cetera may enjoy developing their meta-linguistic awareness through Sentence Diagramming. Ask during booking to learn more about how you can become a grammar wiz through one-on-one classes in Sentence Diagramming taught by Haley Shea.

For more information, use the Ask a Question feature and Haley Shea will be happy to respond to your inquiry personally within 48 hours.

Shea taught me a lot as a friend and instructor. She helped me get a handle on my mental health and anxiety issues when I needed her most, and she was always knowledgeable and attentive. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss having her around to help me get through life.

I am compelled to write a raving review about Haley Shea. I am 55 years old and started working with her one-year ago to nail down punctuation and grammar in order to write a blog about nutrition and resistance exercise. Haley is patient and has a pleasant demeanor that strongly motivated me to want to learn the material. Currently, I look forward to each and every lesson.

Around December of last year, I discovered that my heart was not into blog writing. I sent Haley an email and explained my feelings and that I was actually passionate about screenwriting. She wrote back and I discovered this was right (or write) up her alley. Truth be told, as a nine year-old I used to write and direct 8 mm movies with my neighborhood friends as actors and dreamed one day of becoming a writer, producer and director. But like all other dreams this one was derailed.

Haley had me write a couple scene samples. She sent them back to me and was quite pleased with my neophyte attempt. I told her about a sci-fi television project that I wast interested in and after many months of her encouragement and my persistence I finished the first draft.

After some revisions, I watched her perform a table read by Skype utilizing the skills of her improvisation students. I loved watching their reaction as they each read their part. It is very gratifying watching some one become the character you created. It was intended to be funny and campy. There were times the actors seemed to have trouble containing their laughter. Overall their reaction was positive.

At this juncture, Haley is helping me with query letters and obtaining input from other professionals in her inner circle. She is also seeking input from other writers.

The most important thing is I enjoy screenwriting no matter what happens. Haley has helped me love what I'm doing and it is not chore but sweet ride.

I'm greatful for her guidance,
Paul Skinner

My experience with Haley Shea was nothing short of transcendental. I was completely revitalized after receiving her guided meditation, which was focused on mindfulness and extending awareness. The session was performed virtually, but that in no way detracted from the experience. Her voice is kind and soothing, and she is so comfortable right away. She helped me find a peacefulness within myself that I hadn't known in a long time. It was unbelievable...I didn't realize what kind of power I had in my own mind. I FELT physically different after this session. I felt more connected, more relaxed, more inspired, more intrigued, and just...happier. You really have to try.

Just had my first class with Haley. She was wonderful. Being that this is my first time meditating, I was not sure what to expect. Her voice was very soothing and her visual worked. Will definitely take more classes with her.

It has been a pleasure to work with Shea. She is a great teacher and has helped me find more peace through meditations. Although, I had never done meditations before and was somewhat skeptical to start, Shea did a good job of not only showing me various techniques, but also explaining the concept behind it. She does a great job of catering sessions based on your needs and listens to what you say in order to incorporate it with new fun exercises. I highly recommend her and look forward to continuing to work with her.

She has a lot of visualizations that she talks you through meditation and its very helpful, especially for people who are new to meditation. Her prices are great and she likes to follow up with you about your experience and what she can do to make it better for you.

Haley has really been an awesome, supportive teacher for me these past few months. I signed up for a Meditation & Life Coaching combo package during a dark time in my life when I was dealing with a lot of stress, depression, and self-defeating thoughts. With her help I learned how to capture those negative thoughts and turn them around to see things from a new perspective. Now I feel so much lighter and finally feel like I have a way to cope with my anxieties. Keep up the great work!

I had life coaching lessons with Shea. She's not professional. She speaks about her private life and provides poor advice. She speaks most of the time. She has to take into consideration that she is being paid for speaking to me. This means she has to please the client by working diligently and being courteous. She informed me to work at a bar and to become a waitress while I'm attending the university. Why would I work at a bar? Maybe, if I was the desperate type. I have high class, and I needed a decent job. I only considered her because she was inexpensive. I don't recommend her for anyone.

Shea really knows what she is doing when it comes to meditation. She answers any questions and explains what to expect when you're learning. Her guided visualizations are incredibly helpful, especially when you're like me and have never tried serious meditation before. So much of my stress was relieved and I went home feeling much more happy and relaxed after our first session.

Shea has been an excellent Tutor for my Middle School child, who was having problems with his grammar. She is very courteous, respectful, and explains in detail so that my child comprehends what she teaches him. Shea is very patient and kind, and takes the tension away each time she sits down with him. . I would highly recommend her to anyone in any subject. She is a brilliant young lady! Matthew is gaining more confidence with each visit from Shea.
