    About Eric S.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in psychology. I currently work at this university around college aged children every single day, and do my best to be a positive influence on the kids. I also coach high school track in the spring time, and have taken several kids to state. I coach high jump and pole vault, which can be quite difficult at times as they are 2 of the most difficult events to learn properly technique wise. I have coached both boys and girls from the age of about 10 years old all the way up to 18/19 years old. Some of the reason's that I feel make me qualified to being a Life Coach is that my life has gone in so many different directions since graduating high school. I didn't take academics in high school super seriously, and I only wanted to go to a 2 year technical college upon graduation. After about 2 years I decided that I wanted to challenge myself and see what I could do at a university. I changed my major about 4 times (health care, hospitality, education, and psychology), and went through some health issues (depression and anxiety), but I finally found a good degree that would serve me well. Now after being out of high school for 11 years, I want to continue to learn about mental health, how to better myself, and learn how to understand people from all walks of life better. I have learned to look at life with a more positive attitude, and it has opened up doors that I never thought were possible 11 years ago. The key to being successful is not how well you did academically in high school or college, but how much you are willing to learn in life despite your academic level. You have control over your own life, if you're willing to be open and push yourself to learn as much as you can.

    Experience

    Custodian - university housing

    May, 2016 - Present

    University of Wisconsin - Whitewater

I clean residence halls and come across kids from all different backgrounds. My main priorities are cleaning buildings and the safety of the kids I work around. It is not required that I get to know the kids, but I make it a point to try and connect with kids to make sure they are doing alright. By getting to know the kids, I can get a sense of what to expect from them in order to help keep them safe, and to try and brighten their day up.
