Learning is my passion. I love to learn new things and I love to help others learn. With a Masters degree in Learning Technologies, I have designed curriculum for Higher Education classes, corporate trainings, and K12 tutoring. I began teaching as a Media Specialist helping university students and faculty learn to use various software and media equipment. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with minors in Math, Game Development, and IT, I began writing curriculum and teaching corporate technology courses. I have also worked with K12 teachers to implement learner-centered instructional practices and technology into the classroom, as well as worked with students from Elementary to High School to create media using a wide variety of tools. As your tutor and learning partner, I promise to always focus on helping you achieve your goals. I don’t require a specific book or curriculum. There are plenty of quality resources out there. Instead, we will focus on using the available resources to get you to where you want to be. I believe my biggest asset is my ability to learn. I have studied and performed research in the area of learning, and have a deep understanding of the process. In our sessions, you will learn not only subject-specific skills, but how to be self-directed in your own learning no matter the content. You will cultivate confidence in your abilities and a mindset of lifelong learning that will be useful in every area of your life. As an avid learner, the subjects I tutor are varied. I have nearly 20 years of experience in music. I play piano, guitar, trumpet, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, harmonica, and more. I have studied music theory and even composed, recorded, and published my own original music. With a degree in Computer Science, I also tutor a lot of technical subjects. I have programmed in C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, Python, PHP, ActionScript, JavaScript, MySQL, and more. I have written apps for iOS and even developed video games. Technology is always changing. So even if the subject is brand new, I can help you learn it. I work with people from elementary students to adult learners. Look through my subjects and let me know what you’re interested in.
