Sharpen your English skills with a career English teacher

The English language can be confusing. Learning how to say and write things clearly and effectively can often be difficult. I have been teaching English to elementary and middle school students for over 40 years, so I understand the struggle. If you need to sharpen your skills in English grammar, usage, basic sentence writing, or verbal communication, I can help.

I have recently retired from a 46-year teaching career, and now I'm here to help you. If you're experiencing difficulty with anything related to reading and writing, I'm your go-to source for help. I have taught all subjects and all grades in elementary and middle school during my long career. I am a former Yavapai County (AZ) teacher of the year and I am the author of the "100% Writing" writing-instruction series (LinguiSystems, Inc.). For years, writing teachers all over the country have used my materials to instruct their students on topics such as narrative stories, persuasive/argumentative essays, informative essays, and comparison/contrast writing. You can see examples of my work on the Teachers-Pay-Teachers website. Just search "Ground Floor Writing." Whether your needs are simple or involved, I can help you become a better reader and writer. Effective reading and writing are processes, and processes require patience and practice. I'm ready to share my expertise, experience, and writing secrets with you.

A great teacher! He takes the time to explain things clearly. If you don't understand the first time, he'll use different ways to get you to understand. He helped me with my essay writing and with social studies, especially civics.

I was under Mr. Wisniewski's guidance for 2 years and I only have good memories of him. He is a very caring teacher and wasn't shy to repeat lessons for out benefit. He is a very easy person to talk to and learn form. Overall, Mr. Wisniewski is a wonderful teacher and a great role model.

    Experience

    Classroom Teacher

    Aug, 1975 - May, 1977

    Archdiocese of Gallup (NM)

My first two years of teaching in San Fidel, New Mexico. This is where I fell in love with the profession and realized I might be able to make a difference in children's lives. Here I taught a combined first/second grade class.

    Classroom Teacher (ELA)

    Aug, 2013 - Aug, 2021

    Broward County Schools (FL)

In the Broward Schools, I worked exclusively as an 8th grade language arts teacher. My responsibilities included teaching reading and writing. I was the language arts department chairperson at Silver Lakes Middle School, and I was heavily involved in developing and coordinating the curriculum for the school's language arts department.

    ELA Curriculum Designer/Writer

    Dec, 1999 - Sep, 2010

    Evans Newton, Inc.

While I was teaching, I wrote ELA curriculum on a contract basis for Evans Newton, which was, at the time, one of the leading national curriculum development and testing companies in the U.S. My job was to write ELA lessons for teachers that were targeted to specific standards. I also wrote ELA tests, test passages, and parent-support materials.

    Classroom Teacher

    Aug, 1985 - May, 2013

    Camp Verde Unified Schools (AZ)

In the Camp Verde Schools, I wore many hats during my long tenure. Although I primarily instructed 8th grade language arts, I also instructed science, math, and social studies. This was during a time period when a certified teacher was expected to be proficient at instructing ALL curriculum. I served as language arts chairperson for almost the entirety of my tenure at Camp Verde Middle School.

    Classroom Teacher

    Aug, 1977 - May, 1994

Mohave Valley Elementary School District (AZ)

While at the Mohave Valley Schools, I taught first grade for four years and middle school language arts for three years.
