I adore languages and choose to tutor in order to share that love and fascination for languages.Because I learned my languages both in the classroom and during years spent abroad I have a good working knowledge of both how the languages are learned as foreign languages and the cultural nuances that make them so unique.
While in Spain I taught English to people from 8 years old to adults and the private classes that I gave were my favorite because I could really tailor my explanations to that person's individual learning style and I got a chance to see them grow and advance in their knowledge of the language.
I like to make the lesson relevant for students and stay away from making it a simple memorization exercise. Especially with languages, the information is much more likely to stick if the student can relate the information to their life.
I worked with elementary school students on their reading skills. We would read books and do exercises that the teacher sent for us.
