I play multiple roles as a teacher-- mentor, conversation partner, advisor, coach, motivator, entertainer, and of course, instructor. My intermediate and advanced students think of me as smart, funny, and dedicated. Although I understand the importance of reading and listening and writing skills, I prefer to help students with speaking and writing. I use my expert knowledge of a second language (German) to help me understand the challenges my students face learning English. I have my own virtual classroom and I offer face-to-face video, whiteboard, text sharing, screen sharing, and my lessons can be recording for additional viewing.

Although my profession and passion is language instruction, I have many other interests: basketball, politics, pop and jazz music, Asian and Italian cuisine, swimming, film,  table tennis, screenwriting, and pop-culture in general. Most of my students are surprised to learn that I was the lead singer of a pop band called The Pleasure Bombs in my 20's. If I made a short list of people I admire, it would include: Steve Jobs, Pablo Picasso, Emily Dickinson, George Eastman, The Beatles, Madonna, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Bruce Lee, J.R.R Tolkien, Meryl Streep, among others. I am Italian-American (Sicilian) and my favorite cities I have lived in so far are Berlin, San Francisco, and New York.
