Teaching since:

I'm a former Spanish teacher who has taught taught levels 1-IV for the last 4 years. Prior to that, I lived in Germany as a military spouse where I taught yoga. Before Germany, I taught Spanish for two years at a private boarding school in Raleigh, North Carolina. My first teaching position, however, was in Granada, Spain where I taught English at a rural school near Granada, Spain having won a fellowship after university graduation.
Although my bachelors is in Spanish Language and Literature I am studying TESOL at American University where I have completed 12 credits in language assessment, second language acquisition and linguistics. My classes are engaging and personalized. For my athlete students, I find articles and clips about their sport that we build language around. I do the same for the interests of my other students, thereby making their connection to the language personal and intrinsic. In our tutoring sessions, there will be music, video and games! Because I am a teacher, I can help you liaise with your student's teacher in a way that will help us understand how to help your student.

I took Spanish lessons with Ashleigh for three years and learned so much from her! She was passionate about the subject and cared about all of her students. She taught me a lot about Spanish language and culture and I would highly recommend her to anybody looking to expand their language abilities.

I worked with Ashleigh for several years in a high school setting. Ashleigh is a dedicated, patient, knowledgeable and professional teacher. She shares her passion for the Spanish language and cultures with her students and strives to make the concepts accessible to all. Her lessons are always structured to allow students to make the most of previous knowledge and build on it. She pushes her students to excel and truly cares about their progress.

Ashleigh is a very encouraging and patient tutor. She has had a wide range of instructional experience—teaching introductory, intermediate and advanced Spanish students. I’ve had the privilege of working with Ashleigh at the secondary school level for four years. She is highly respected by her students and fellow instructors. I highly recommend her!
