Hi, there! My name is Cosette and I can't wait to meet you! I've taught private lessons since 2009 and have loved helping my students learn, explore, and develop their skills. I went to Wild Hope Academy and have studied in the music field for over a decade. After beginning with piano and falling in love with all musical aspects I continued on to develop skills from playing the violin, recorder, guitar, and ukelele to singing and acting in multiple musicals. I began using American Sign Language when I was nine as a creative art form to accompany music. My interest quickly extended much beyond just interpreting music into sign language; I spent an intensive nine months studying to achieve fluency so that I could interpret for friends in my community. Subsequently, I continued investing in opportunities to expand my experience and share my appreciation of this language. I spent time among Deaf communities strengthening my communication skills and taught others so that they could feel confident doing the same. Creative and practical application are an integral part of my classes. More than just teaching mechanics, I want to develop my students‘ *learning* skills. Imparting a motivated and self sufficient work ethic in my students will help them to learn far beyond the classroom for whatever they tackle in life. I'm a passionate and purposeful person and my teaching style is fun, insightful, and motivating. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Over a span of ten years of teaching music lessons, Cosette was one of my fastest-learning students. Cosette strives to do her very best in every piece she performs and this was evident. Cosette not only would come to lessons prepared; but also because she was always willing to try a new type of dynamic or articulation, or to think of a musical phrase in a new way that would make the passage stronger or more musical. This approach brought her to a high level of playing, quickly. In addition to her assigned material, Cosette would often work on additional pieces for church, other functions, or just for enjoyment, and bring them to the lesson. I always like it when my students bring extra music like this to the lesson; it shows initiative and involvement with others around them. Cosette definitely enjoyed collaborating musically with her family and friends. In my opinion, once study and learning has taken place, it is a musician’s duty to look beyond the mechanics and to serve others with their talent - which is something Cosette is already doing.

As her former piano teacher, Cosette was a gifted, eager student who practiced diligently. Cosette pushed herself every bit as hard as I pushed her, and she has a sensitivity to music's subtleties. Her personal character and love of music of music made her a delightful student.
