    About Angela K.

As a professional artist, I have exhibited in 30 exhibitions including in Europe. I most recently worked as a photographer, artist and writer on a documentary in the American West featuring artists working to save wild horses. I also was the director of an art program in Santa Barbara that taught the arts to over 500 youth for ten years. I am a long time teacher with a Ph.D. My dissertation was a research study looking at the value of the arts in education. I often work on projects nationally as a contributor for various non profit causes that use the arts to bring attention to various worthwhile issues. After 25 years of teaching in many settings, including a university, an arts project, and at both private and public schools as well as giving private lessons, it has been my experience that art is a skill that anyone can learn with support. Picasso was absolutely correct when he said " Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up!" I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from University of California at Santa Barbara, A Master's degree in Organizational Non Profit Management and a Ph.D. in Human Development. All of my work and studies have involved art, photography and writing and often non-profit causes. I teach students from all levels of art experience, from those who have never attempted to draw, to students who have many years experience looking to exhibit their art or make a living from it, I also teach art history in a fun way that helps you learn from painters who have created styles that help artists learn ways to improve their own work. I consider sharing my love of the arts a privilege! I have taught many “so-called” Non- Artists to draw and paint and sculpt and have encouraged many others with art experience who are longing to further or start their art careers. All that said, the most important thig I have to pass along is my personal LOVE of art and my commitment to encouraging others to find their own gift of creative expression! My art students do NOT need special skills or talents just a willingness to want to express themselves! Art is a funny thing, the more you enjoy it and learn it in a relaxed way, the better your actual art turns out when you make it. Hope to meet you and teach you soon!
