    About Andrea H.

Learning English should be a fun experience for everyone! Every learner is unique and learning any language is a gradual process. It can be overwhelming and I will try to be accommodating within reason. I want students to succeed! ------- If you are interested in booking a time with me please send me a message with ALL of the following information about the student: Name and/or nickname: Their preferred pronoun(s): Languages: First, second, or more.: Are there any disabilities that I need to be aware of? MATERIALS: Does the student have pre-existing learning materials that you prefer to use for their lessons? Yes: Please provide me the information and materials No: answer with (No) Hobbies: what do they like to draw, what types of music, etc Animals: pet(s) and name(s) What jobs do they want to be: teacher, scientist, architect, etc. What food do they love? Favorite breakfast food, fruits, candy, etc. What is their favorite school subject(s)? What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses? What skills do you want to strengthen? What is the goal that you are hoping to achieve from lessons? ------- Time varies depending on the student's abilities and time availability. ------- Lesson structure: Greeting Warmer activity (a game) (one of the following) Listening, Reading, Grammar, Phonics Conversation Review (Time remaining will be for questions from the student or further conversation depth) ------- I like to personalize lessons; make them relatable, and still be educational. Strong conversations are important for real-world situations; job interviews, shopping, banking, etc. I have experience learning languages as well as teaching languages. I try to find the best method of learning for all students and use of interests! I am an artist! In previous lessons that I had with my last employer, I would have students draw a picture before class and talk about it when they introduce themselves. I love animals! When I had students that were not so artsy… I would have them talk about their pets or animals. Most students love animals! I would have students talk about what certain animals were like.. if they were cute, quiet, soft, happy, stinky, clean, etc. I am a musician; vocals, piano, guitar, ukulele, piano and more! I love to write funny educational animal songs for my niece and nephew. Creating songs using verb tenses, new vocabulary, phonetics, often helps a student learn patterns and phonetics. Lessons will improve communication skills; have a conversation about animals, clothes, food, music, and more! Learn how to give descriptive details and ask interesting questions so you can have more engaging and meaningful conversations.

I teach various subjects from college writing, TESOL, English, etc. Not enough hours and I want more experience with different platforms.

    Teacher

    Sep, 2020 - Sep, 2021

    English First

This was a remote job. I taught non-native English speakers lessons. The lessons and the platform were provided by the company. Parents booked their classes. Lessons for 25 minutes long. We would start with an introduction and a warm-up like a game using words that we’re going to be used in the lesson and then we would focus on one of the following subjects; reading, listening, phonics, grammar. Finally we would have a conversation and we would review for a few minutes. After a lesson teachers were required to write up an after class report informing parents about their child’s skills and what they needed to practice as well as informed future teachers about what skills needed to be focused on.
