I had the privilege of teaching Allison Spanish at Ukiah High School. She was not only a powerful student but the quality of her character was A+ in every regard. Her travels abroad refined both her command of Spanish and her appreciation of Hispanic culture, and inspired her dedication to advancing the status of Hispanic women. We at Ukiah High School who have known Allison are proud of her accomplishments and we delight in her continued success.

I would absolutely recommend Allison as a Spanish tutor. She is patient and attentive, and creative when it comes to alternative learning styles. She helped me through the subjunctive as many times as it took until I finally got it. Allison's wide breadth of experience with the Spanish language really comes through. She has done it all, from language immersion at a young age, to academic research, to traveling, to teaching grade school Spanish and it shows!

    Spanish Teacher

    Aug, 2011 - May, 2012

The Waldorf School Of Mendocino County

Returning to California after graduating with a dual degree in Spanish and Political Science I had the unique opportunity to share my love of Spanish and Latino culture with a class of 7th and 8th graders. I worked with them to both instill a respect for other cultures and prepare them to enter high school Spanish.

    Community Outreach Spanish Teacher

    Jun, 2010 - Jun, 2011

El Instituto de Desarrollo Humano/The Institute for Human Development

I taught beginning conversational Spanish classes for community members, through the Institute for Human Development, a Latino community center. This class was geared towards community members who work with Latinos on a regular basis; medical professionals, clergy and other human services professionals.

    Spanish Tutor

    Aug, 2006 - May, 2008

    Warren Wilson College

It was during my first years in college that I discovered that my love of Spanish was also a love of sharing Spanish with others. During my freshman and junior years I had the wonderful opportunity of working as a tutor and support person for the modern languages department. While there, I tutored students who were struggling, created instructional materials for professors, facilitated conversational Spanish groups and held Spanish language movie nights.
