I spend my days working with survivors of domestic violence to rebuild their lives. When I'm really lucky I get to work with Spanish speaking clients, combining my love of Spanish with my passion for empowering woman.

Returning to California after graduating with a dual degree in Spanish and Political Science I had the unique opportunity to share my love of Spanish and Latino culture with a class of 7th and 8th graders. I worked with them to both instill a respect for other cultures and prepare them to enter high school Spanish.

El Instituto de Desarrollo Humano/The Institute for Human Development

I taught beginning conversational Spanish classes for community members, through the Institute for Human Development, a Latino community center. This class was geared towards community members who work with Latinos on a regular basis; medical professionals, clergy and other human services professionals.

It was during my first years in college that I discovered that my love of Spanish was also a love of sharing Spanish with others. During my freshman and junior years I had the wonderful opportunity of working as a tutor and support person for the modern languages department. While there, I tutored students who were struggling, created instructional materials for professors, facilitated conversational Spanish groups and held Spanish language movie nights.
