Acrylic Painting Lessons in Cooperstown. Amazing Teachers.

Age-Appropriate areas of instruction include:
-Painting Techniques such as Layering, Mixing, Washes, and Glazing.
-Understanding Composition.
-Understanding Color Theory: Opposites or “complementary colors” on the color wheel; Painting with medium tones, so that highlights and shadows can be applied easily. Using multiple colors equals “depth” and “interest.”
-How to Mix Paint: Mixing using the palette knife, brush, on palette, or on painting.

I have been teaching professionally for five years with both small children and adults in many different platforms. My students can expect to develop skills of sketching in paint, rendering objects realistically, color theory, color mixing, texturing and blending, and building contrast. I work with you, where you're at, and develop my lesson plans custom to your individual needs. My students and I always have a blast and make the learning experience fun.

I have taught over 500 students how to paint! Each painting lesson is tailored to your interest and where you want to develop skill. My schooling background is in figure painting, modern painting techniques, color theory and composition. I have been trained by masterful painters from all over the world and look forward to sharing all that I have learned with you.

Experienced teacher of 5 years, specializing in the beginner/intermediate painting student. All ages are welcome. With curriculum building experience as a previously certified Art teacher, I have the expertise to cater to any type of ability or age of student. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be painting like you've been doing it your whole life in no time, but you will be building a strong foundational knowledge of composition, color theory, masters techniques, optimal materials, and much more. Students can expect to focus on learning a good foundation. I am familiar with several different approaches when working with acrylic paints. They include but are not limited to; direct painting, graphic approach, building up of layers using glazes and dry brushing. I also sensitive to the surfaces acrylic is used on; paper, canvas, fabric, metal and wood are just a few.
