All that I request from a student is a desire to learn. I will work with you at your pace to achieve the musical goals you have. Each student begins at a different level.
The first lesson will focus on your musical background. If you are a beginner, that's no problem. I specialize in working with beginning students to teach them all the joy and satisfaction there is in mastering an instrument.
I love to laugh and the lessons are very laid back and fun, but I desire that a student move forward and learn new techniques.
You will be playing simple songs after your first lesson. I'm asked many times by students "how long will it take until I'm good." My answer is: that is in direct proportion to the amount of time you dedicate to practicing. After a month or two, you will know how to read music and have a basic understanding of music theory.
I use various curriculum depending on the student's need. For guitar, Hal Leonard or Mel Bay.
About Don
Don brings over 38 years of teaching experience in Piano, Voice, and Guitar. His relaxed and humorous approach to music encourages students to embrace a love for the musical art. With 2 American Idol finalists to his credit, along with numerous students who have gone on to professional careers

When taking a lesson from me you can expect a fun and attentive one on one lesson. I am thorough and patient. I expect you to love music and put forth effort. I'm laid back, I will work as fast or as slow as you need. I prefer a total immersion technique, to get my students playing right away. I Feel this boosts their confidence and help foster interest. In my experience once a student enjoys playing you don't have to convince them to practice.
By the first lesson you will be familiar with the instrument and it's parts, and playing your first chord. With a little work and some practice in 3-6 months you will be playing guitar have a greater knowledge of chords, basic harmony know a few scales and be able to play some awesome songs. Once you have a foundation of chords we can explore the more specific things you want to learn musically. I will get you through the basics and then the lesson will become more personalized. If you want to learn about songwriting, guitar tones, or ...

I've been teaching guitar since 2010, starting with a classical foundation and branching out into about everything I could get my hands on. I learned that there is a fundamental set of skills that make just about everything possible. I encourage beginner students to start with whatever they are drawn to, no matter how obscure or cliche. As they come along I help them realize what is common to all things musical and develop the skills that are equally useful in all styles so they have the freedom to explore anything their heart desires effectively.
About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn
