Joseph Nikita has been teaching piano for over 10 years, from beginning levels to advanced. He is a graduate of the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts in Chisinau, Moldova, where he studied with renowned professor M. V. Yudina, who is widely recognized as one of the greats in piano teaching and performance.

Regardless of his students' age, style, and ability, Joseph has unparalleled virtue in passing on to his pupils his elaborate musical skills. He possesses a wide scope of expertise in teaching classical piano, incorporating different styles and various composers into his methodology. From Bach to Beethoven to Rachmaninoff, Joseph teaches with a creative mind, making the learning process easy-going and insightful.

Along with all the technical and solo classical pieces he teaches, Joseph makes it a point to train his students to play and improvise on the fly, being able to collaborate with other musicians, both in reading written scores and in developing their own ...

Joseph is a very gifted person, it's hard to find someone who has an ocean of musical ideas in his or her heart. He is not just a professional in his work, he is a true composer. Thus it is more than creativity, he is not simply putting together known material, he's creating his own, and he does it in a professional way. It never gets boring to work with him, I always look forward for his flesh ideas and new way to interpret music.

I have had many piano teachers before I came to Joseph. Since then, in his private lessons we've covered scales, learned classical pieces, choir songs, accompaniment for hymns and how to play by ear.
I love how much he cares for each of his students and wants each lesson to be valuable. The passion for teaching is seen in him, and as a current student of his, I could say that he has built plethora of skills in me, so that I can use that knowledge to serve God, persevere, and carry on that education to the generation after me.
He has a lot of experience teaching piano and a big background in music. It's a blessing to be a student of a talented teacher, composer, and conductor, who is also highly respected, inspirational and caring.

I have been taking theory/harmony lessons with Mr. Joseph Nikita for 4 years now and couldn't be any more satisfied with his teaching style.
Mr. Nikita takes the complex concepts of music harmony and breaks them down to the point where they become easy to understand, retain, and apply to my homework and compositions.
One thing I much admire in Mr. Nikita's teaching is the variability in his explanations. I don't prefer learning in a lecture-style environment (where the teacher lectures and the student takes notes), so Mr. Nikita takes each topic and explains it in multiple ways - using real-life applications and examples. This helps me obtain a clear understanding of each lesson - making it easy to go in depth in music harmony.

Do you want to learn how to hear and make music, not just learn an instrument? Are you interested in playing with other musicians, or even writing or arranging your own music?

I am a multi-instrument musician who has been playing piano for 17 years, training classically for 7 years, and learning a contemporary and modern style since then while taking music theory classes at a college level. I am a songwriter, worship leader, and a recording artist, writing both orchestral instrumental pieces and modern ballads. I love teaching, and I love music even more, and I am passionate about sharing that with others. Let's make music!

About Stephen

I have played piano since I was 5 years old, taking classical piano lessons for 7 years, then learning how to play a modern contemporary style on my own with guidance from music theory classes and personal musical mentors. Music has always been a big part of my life, as a way to process things, as

It is my belief that piano lessons should be accessible to anyone, regardless of personal income. To that end, I strive to provide as affordable a rate as I can to my students. Additionally, I consider it essential to teach music as wholistically as possible. Therefore, I supplement my piano lessons with music theory/composition lessons, so my students can understand not only how to play the notes, but why as well. With practice, you'll learn how to play and describe all music, not just classical piano. To enroll in music theory/composition lessons, simply enroll in m hour-long or longer piano lessons. You may of course also dedicate a full hour or longer to the piano, should you wish to forego the musical theory portion. Music theory and composition lessons are ONLY available one-hour time frames or longer. Let's start your musical journey!

About Joseph

I began studying the piano in my early high school years and instantly fell in love with what I consider the ultimate musical instrument. The more I studied the piano, the more I wanted to learn how music is conceived and put together. Between the act of sitting down at a piano bench to let my fing

As a beginner piano student with very little experience with the instrument, Joseph really did a great job easing me into learning my way around the piano. His lessons were clear and easy to understand with good direction on what to improve on next. He was patient, understanding, and very accommodating to questions I had regarding the material.
I would definitely recommend Joseph to anyone looking for a piano instructor!
Jonathan
Joseph has been a fantastic teacher. He asked me early on what I want to focus on. The pieces he picked for me to practice were challenging, but fair. I'm very pleased with how well I've progressed. I would recommend Joseph highly. If you want someone knowledgeable, patient, and down-to-earth, Joseph is your guy!

I believe in the importance of music in a persons life - both young and those more experienced in years. :-D

Music should enhance ones life and bring joy to others. It should be fun!

I work with students of varying ages. I will collaborate with you to begin an enjoyable hobby or prepare for college repertory. From music theory, to reading leadsheets, and composing basic tunes.

Please feel free to contact me and ask any questions regarding my pedagogy and we can discuss realistic expectations and short/long term goals. We can tailor the lessons to fit YOUR specific desired outcomes.

I want you to succeed and have fun in the process.

If we can schedule to meet in Wicker Park, we will have access to an 8 1/2 foot concert grand.

I normally suggest children 14 and under (depending on how comfortable they are) do 30 minute lessons.

Adults and those 16+, I strongly suggest, do an hour lesson (to get the most out of the pedagogy)

I am also flexible doing lessons ...

"I have Rosita for different classes for both piano and singing. And when I'm not able to go to her home studio she gives me the option to do the online lessons when I travel! And it has been a wonderful experience. I learn so much. I was very hesitant in trying online lessons. The way that Rosita does them is amazing! You receive copies of the slides that she goes over in class. If you are looking for an online teacher, pick her!"

"Rebecca is an amazing piano teach

Before taking piano lessons with Rebecca, my only experience with musical instruction was through elementary and junior high.

Rebecca's training and personal dedication to music makes her an extraordinary teacher. We use the Suzuki books, which I love because that's what I used for violin and flute. She supplements those favorites with really nice adult-learning-centered books on theory. As an adult learner, this was helpful, because I could read through these brief books, but then had the terminology to look up my questions online or know what to ask in lessons.

The lessons are so fun and well organized. We work on the songs in the books (which included CDs of the songs so you can hear what the song might sound like if you practice enough) and she would help me with songs I brought in too. Rebecca is so kind, and is great with my five-year-old too.

Really, Rebecca is an excellent music instructor. Her academic background, many years of actually playing piano and singing, knowledge of the music available and books, and variety of students -- all make her a versatile teacher, capable of helping anyone learn to the play the piano in whatever style they are interested in. Plus, she is an incredible person. I look forward to piano lessons with her."

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?

Wondering about the average piano tuning cost, or how often you should tune a piano? You've come to the right place! Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear, that your piano drops in pitch particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the …
