Experienced guitar teacher available for eager beginning students of all ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of musical skills. I taught myself to play guitar in high school, so just know the basics. I played keyboards, my main instrument, in several rock bands, so know some blues and rock riffs that could transfer well to guitar. I enjoy helping people to find the fun in playing guitar!

About Karen

I have a BA in Psychology, and an MA in Parapsychology. I studied Architecture for 3 years, and Music Education for two years. I was a National Merit Semifinalist in High School for good SAT scores, and in the Honors Society in High School and College. I play piano, percussion, flute, cello, guitar

My daughter 7yrs took lessons from Karen for 8 months. She was so patient and kind. My girl loved her and her teaching style.
I would have given 5 stars if she had got a real piano, not an electronic one.

Karen is not only a gifted teacher but an excellent listener and has an extremely easy going personality. This was my third lesson and I already "feel the love."

I have been teaching professionally for over 7 years and love working with beginners, intermediate players, as well as those who are looking to enhance their own personal songwriting and unique approach . From kids to adults, I look and draw from a curriculum that caters towards individual needs and goals and set up a weekly plan to enhance and cultivate a routine and daily practice surrounding musical growth. I grew up playing in the blues community, and a lot of my foundation is rooted in this theory, however I have learned a lot along the way and have a set of tools and roadmaps that accommodate differently for each age range and lesson plan. I have in I also play the bass, sing and work with electronic production to arrange for songwriters and live shows. "Ian is a fantastic instructor. In our second lesson, he completely changed the way I look at scales and soloing AND helped easily make sense of a music theory concept that always confused me (and how to apply it practically).

On top of it all, he is very approachable and easy to work with. Highly recommend!"

"I am really enjoying my lessons with Joey with now. The greatest part about my experience is that I am actually practicing, and enjoying the rewards of practicing. He really knows how to inspire his students, so he is a great choice for guitarist's who have hit the "wall". I have improved greatly in my practice sessions because of his philosophies on practice he has shared with me. We work on mostly electric guitar, and since he is classical trained, his thoughts on left hand technique are extremely helpful!"

"Phenomenal & Friendly Instructor

Tim is a phenomenal instructor! I have tried expensive videos by Marty Schwartz, subscription services like JamPlay.com, and have spent hundreds of dollars on Skype lessons with popular YouTube instructors like Mike Gross. In the year that I have been playing, one month of lessons with Tim did more for my playing than 11 months with the other methods I've tried. You owe it to yourself to give Tim a month of your time. He transformed my understanding of the guitar, has taught me to be self-sufficient with learning songs I hear, and has made playing exciting. Without being able to articulate exactly what I wanted to accomplish, Tim's uncanny intuition for balancing what I think I needed with what I really need took my playing to the next level very quickly. Nothing can substitute the depth of his musical knowledge, but more importantly, his keen sense of feeding me just what I need from everything he knows. Tim carefully plans out a lesson for me based off of my progress, has me take notes, and gives me ideas on how to improve before my next lesson. The most exciting day of my week is the hour I spend learning from a great instructor and a great human being. I couldn't be happier with my decision to learn how to play from Tim."
