I've been a studio, recording, and performing musician for 40 years. I believe in teaching students how to play songs on their instrument at their first lesson which I think keeps their interest level up and makes them want to continue to play. You won't get much music theory from me because I believe you want to learn to play first. Ukulele is an easier instrument to learn on than guitar and makes the transition smoother if you decide you want to learn to play the guitar also. Let's do this!!!

About Joe

I have been a studio, recording, and performing musician for 40 years. I play guitar, bass guitar and ukulele. I think learning how to play ukulele first, makes the transition to learning how to play guitar quicker and easier, especially for younger people. If you are an adult and have always wanted

I like to make learning an instrument fun and easy to fit into your schedule!

If you're an adult finally getting around to learning your dream instrument or a child following your passion of playing music I tailor your lessons specifically to you. We look at what you want to play, pick specific songs that you want to learn, and learn the techniques you need to play these songs. It sounds simple, but it's so effective and much more fun to learn this way!

"My son has special needs related to an anoxic brain injury. This can create frustration with simple things like learning a new chord that feels funny or is difficult to move your fingers to. He always checks in with us to see what concerns we have and then, helps us by offering suggestions on how to make something easier or less frustrating to learn. I think Jonathan does a good job of meeting us where we are. Jonathan is patient with both of us. Today, he talked to my son about practicing communicating so we can understand how to help him learn. He talked to me about it being ok to break away from the timing and to hit chords at the same time as my son so the song can come together."

"I took Uke classes with Grant and truly enjoyed them because he’s very patient and doesn’t rush-force learning. I highly recommend Grant to anyone who wants to learn to play the musical instruments he plays. I’m a stroke-brain injury survivor and was hesitant to take Ukelele classes, but once I saw I was making progress, I felt more confident about continuing classes.
Highly recommend Grant,
