I have thoroughly enjoyed taking voice lessons with Candice. She is an incredible musician and teacher. She explains concepts relating to technique, musicality, diction, etc., in a way that makes her knowledge and experience in singing evident. She's also kind and encouraging, always resulting in me thoroughly enjoying our lessons and looking forward to the following week. I highly recommend choosing Candice as a vocal instructor!

Candice is a wonderful vocal instructor. Not only is she a gifted singer, she is also a kind and knowledgeable teacher. She always makes me feel comfortable and confident.

I was enchanted by Candice's performance when she played Hodel at Northwest Savoyard's production of Fiddler on the Roof. As a stagehand, I was able to listen to all of the shows and to observe the audience at times. She closed the first half of the play with her solo, "Far from the Home I Love." She is leaving her home and family to follow her love, Perchik, who is exiled to Siberia. I marveled as her sweet yet powerful soprano filled the theater and transfixed the audience. Her vocal facility with that song's wide range showed her great gift. Audience after audience was left in stunned 'pin drop' silence for quite some time at the song's conclusion. Then followed an explosion of applause and much dabbing of eyes. The energy was incredible, magical!

I've been teaching singing and vocal performance for over four years. I utilize the Kodaly method for vocal performance, starting at the basic level of tonal scales (major, minor, harmonic, melodic, etc.) and Solfege application to serve as a foundational base; rhythm syllables such as "ta" and "doo". Additionally, foundational breath control is applied, as it is very important for the singer to learn how to control their breath and support their sound. From there, repertoire mimicry is applied, or what I call "phrase building," as it is important for any singer to be able to effectively create vocal phrases.

Hey there, everyone! My name is Milton and I teach vocal, guitar, piano, and musical theatre lessons in the Inland Empire area. I help those young, middle-aged, and not-as-young tap into their own soul through music so that they may help others find theirs as well. I believe that in order to

Milton is an excellent instructor! He is very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The guitar curriculum he uses is very good. Lessons are really fun and I always look forward to them. Highly recommended!

Lessons consist of learning a solid vocal technique, and learning various repertoire from Broadway, pop, to classical. Also, performing skills will be incorporated, so that the singer feels comfortable acting the song as well. I strongly believe that singers must be actors, and that is what makes us different from instrumentalists. It is also a lot of fun! For children or adults who are willing, I also teach sight singing and spend some of the lessons time learning some basic reading skills.

I've been seeing Sandra for 7 years and I consistently look forward to my lesson every week. I have seen myself improve tremendously in my singing, acting, and sight-reading. Sandra provides an atmosphere of serious learning in which I have been taught how to control by voice, but she is also very personable and always up for a fun chat. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher!

Fantastic teacher. I learned so much more in a short time with Sandra than I learned with all the other voice trainers I have had through the years. Her method is rewarding.

Every voice is a unique "living instrument", strongly influenced by so many physical, emotional and psychological factors. In my classes I love to help students exploring their own voice beyond the simple concept of learning a melody and repeating it, showing them how to use their instrument at its full potential of musical expression. I like to teach the technique together with the interpretation, going through every musical style, pop, rock, R&B, soul, country, you name it! I firmly believe that there is something to learn from every genre, and I think that the listening process is an essential step to find our own personal voice. Throughout my career I worked with students of all ages, from 5 to over 60 years old, with different levels of music preparation, from complete amateurs to professional singers.

"I wanted to wait a while before giving Rob a review so that I could be fair and honest about his teaching and my experience. Rob is a kind, dedicated, and patient singing instructor. He understands how to make students feel comfortable with singing, which for me was a really big deal. I'm a 25 year old male and that didn't make him flinch, despite my lack of formal musical training.

Rob's also great about letting his students pick songs that they're actually interested in singing and is encouraging when you're struggling. He understands how to point out strengths and remains optimistic in a way that bolsters your confidence and helps you get over whatever obstacle (mental/physical) that stands in your way. There's no "can't" when working with Rob. Only suggestions on how to be a stronger singer and words of reinforcement.

In my time learning from Rob I feel my vocals have improved pretty dramatically. I can sing without strain, my power, breathing, and general understanding of proper singing technique have improved ten fold. He gives you the tools that you need to continue working on your own (singing exercises, keyboard warmups, stretches, plosives, etc.). I can't say enough good things about the guy.

I would recommend Rob to music lovers of any age that want to learn a new skill. I hope to continue taking lessons from Rob for a long time to come. Thank you for all of your hard work, Rob!"

How to Sing With Vibrato: Correcting A Wobble

Learning how to sing with vibrato as a singer is one of the ways to really make an impact on your audience - but there are a few things to avoid when you're learning the technique. Take a look at Seal Beach voice teacher Carl B.'s advice here... As a singing teacher for many years, I am totally audience oriented, and my notes on audience psychology date back to 1984.  My entire orientation in singing is to drive the audience to their feet for a standing ovation. In order to do this …

The Truth About the Vocal Fry "Epidemic"

How bad is "vocal fry," anyway? As a singer, should you be concerned about this new vocal trend, heard in artists such as Britney Spears? In this guest post by Ann Arbor, MI voice teacher Elaina R., listen to a vocal fry example and learn the truth behind the fuss...   I was recently listening to This American Life (a popular radio show and podcast), and the hosts started talking about vocal fry. As a voice professional, I immediately started paying rapt attention. Within a few minutes, …

Lace Up: How to Train Your Voice Like an Athlete

Singers, you’re more like an athlete than you might think. Sound crazy? Here, Los Angeles voice teacher Lorna E. shows how you can train your voice with that in mind… Have you ever thought of signing up for a marathon if you’re the type that gets tired running for five minutes? I’d say most people wouldn’t take a chance like that. Many singers, though, believe that they are ready to perform for hours in gigs or rehearsals even without any previous vocal technique endurance. Asking …
