"Still life is the key that unlocks the secrets to great painting. When painted with extraordinary perception and ability, objects have the potential to allegorically represent the full range of the human condition." Nelson Shanks
This still-life lessons will emphasize finding the rhythm in painting and learning when to make the shifts between balancing composition, drawing and color within a painting.
The workshop will commence from setting up a still-life and working out a composition with thumbnail sketches, then developing a color study, and then an open grisaille, the actual painting, working out the drawing issues, color development, keeping paint layers thin and even, and finding the areas where there would be more build-up of impasto and texture, and finally the last touch: removing what is not needed, and adding finishing details.
As a child of five years old I was brought by my mom to Gulyaev’s Art Studio and this famous Ukrainian artist involved me in the marvelous world of fine art.
In high-school, I participated in a federally-funded program for the Gifted and Talented in Visual Art. After graduation I won a huge competition and was admitted as a student of the Architectural department of the Kiev Architectural Civil University. In 2001, I become a student, hand-selected by the director of extraordinary Master degree program of Visual Communication, offered by Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY). In master classes, we learned from each other and worked with the best illustrators: Murray Tinkelman and Cris Payne, Dave Passalaqua and Sano Kazu (Kazuhini), Bunny (Alice) Carter and Bob d’Sey, I love to learn new skills and keep learning new styles and techniques
all the time. This love has inspired my beloved students to do the same.
Really enjoyed working with Marina! She is very fun and delightful to work with

I've known Marina for a very long time and while I haven't taken any classes yet, I most definitely would recommend her to anyone who's looking for a good art teacher. She is a very talented artist and has a rare ability to inspire people to be creative. Her students' paintings are awesome and always make me smile looking at them.
I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching drawing and painting in university and college. I cover realistic style to abstract art with watercolor, oil, or acrylic. Also, you will learn a variety of techniques like glazing, impasto, and alla prima. subject matter can start with still life and continue architecture, landscape, and figurative art.
My name is Roya. I am a professional artist and educator, and I’m a professor in painting and drawing. It would be my pleasure to teach you painting or drawing. Over the last 10 years, I have taught painting and drawing, including figure drawing and painting courses in universities and colleges.
I’m using 2 different teaching strategy based on my students interest.
In the first plan, I start to teach from basic to advanced technique; my goal at the beginning stage is to provide students with enough skills and technique that they can skillfully begin making art from 3- dimensional sources, not just copying from other arts.
In the second path, I start teaching any subject or technique that my student prefer like pastel landscape or oil painting portrait.
I teach a variety of technique, medium and styles from realistic to abstract
Roya is a wonderfully energetic, hands on art teacher, who has moved my oil painting from mundane to lively & exciting. My lessons with Roya are such a pleasure. The lessons are geared toward helping me grow in areas I expressed a need for, as well as filling in weaknesses which her expertise recognizes need working on.

Great teacher!! She knows what she's talking about and teaches at your own pace.
You can expect from my class passion and soul I’m just an artistic being and it shows in every form of my being this all started with nail designs a very small canvas but I figure why not expand that canvas and actually paint express myself. This will be a unique experience for the both of us. Prepare to paint and vibe like you never have before. LETS PAINT!!!!

It was a real pleasure to do a Month long bachata classes with Kimmy. It was a worthwhile time investment. Kimmy is very passionate about dancing and teaching. I am grateful for the new dance skills and confidence she helped me gain!

I'm not naturally coordinated in dancing much less for paired dancing, for that reason I was apprehensive and anxious about bachata dance lessons with kimmy. At the end of the first lesson I left feeling having learnt new moves and confident about using them. Kimmy is skilled and knowledgeable about teaching dance because the pace is not rushed, she provides appropriate cues and thoughtful commendations!

I highly recommend Kimmy! She is a great teacher; she was patient, understanding, and comes prepared. I completed my first dance sessions with Kimmy and came out with a better understanding of how to dance. She instills confidence with her teaching and cares that her student gets the most out of every class.
I have been a professional oil painter for 36 years and have taught oil and acrylic painting classes fro over a decade. I teach a casual, fun but serious style class. My goal is to teach the basics of creating a simple strong painting in a semi realistic style. However, my goal is to allow the student to develop their own individual style. Understanding the creative process is also key to making good art.
My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful painting.
Keep the brushes wet, make every stroke count! Very patient - you’ve just got to do it. Been invaluable in guiding the composition - he can’t hold the brush for you! For a “left brained” person like myself I need to get the “slap”!😄

Terrible! Missed an appointment, limited knowledge, poor teaching skills. Would avoid..
Students will learn multiple painting techniques using acrylic paints as well as some tips and tricks for working with the material. Students will also learn to stretch and prep canvases for painting.
I am an artist and art teacher with 12 years of experience in schools. I love teaching students at my studio and enjoy teaching students how to create work that lie within their areas of interest. I'm always game for a change of the plan or for projects to take a turn in a different direction. These are the times that provide the most learning!
I can teach students of all ages and am able to instruct on a variety of art topics. My personal favorite media are: acrylic paint, colored pencil, and watercolor pencil.
I look forward to working with you to make artwork that interests you!
Hi! Are you frustrated with muddy and poor color choices in your paintings, the inaccurate drawing of your subject, and overall mediocrity? I will help you overcome the fear and frustration of painting with some sound color theory and drawing methods. You can learn to apply colors that are bold and fresh. As artists who continually learn, I believe there is no wrong in exploring colors. When we continue to paint, we learn what didn't work and apply what does work. That is how we improve! The more we practice in small steps, the greater our success!
I have been teaching and painting for a long time- since 1983, actually! I am also a professional mural artist and painter, and found that my painting improved many years after art school. I was frustrated back then and painting seemed so complicated! Is that you? I figured out, with my own research, the freedom and fun in painting. Your painting will improve week to week as we work together to apply nice color combinations, explore values, shapes, edges and so on. Are you interested in portraits, still lifes, landscapes, animals? Let's start with smaller painting sketches to learn the basics of color, shape and design. Then we will take it from there. You can and will succeed in producing paintings you desire!
Simply amazing art teacher! She is skilled in her expertise and has the education and professional experience to back it up. Not only that, she knows exactly how to cultivate an aspiring artist with both technical skills and a caring hand. With Rita's help, you'll bloom right where you're at!
As a teacher for 7 years one of my favorite things is bringing the arts into teaching. I've taught infants through adults, beginners and advanced, and the one secret I can absolutely tell you about learning, is if you are happy then you are going to learn a lot more! I'm excited to get to know you and make you smile!
Let me tell you a little about the Lessons I have to offer. I have specific curriculums for several categories such as Landscapes, Abstract, Still Life, and Portraits. One of my classes that is trending right now is "Flourish and Bloom" which a where we create an acrylic painting on canvas of a flower wreath with an inspirational word in the center. I've got pictures below if you'd like to take a look!
I'm an artist, musician, and language aficionada. I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Georgia, graduating with honors as a Magna Cum Laude in Spanish and French Linguistics. I am fluent in both languages. One thing I love about teaching is bringing the arts into the process of learning. We may sing in the language and even paint to help learn. I've taught younger than Kindergarten all the way to adults, so feel comfortable that you'll grow in your conversational skills, as well as, beginner vocabulary. Let me highlight that I'm passionate about "phonetics," which is the study and classification of speech sounds. In other words, you are going to learn how to sound like a native speaker when you take my class.
Why do I like to bring art and music into the learning journey? Let me tell you one of the biggest secrets I've dis
covered. Art and music can allow you to make a joyful memory, which takes the fleeting moment into the longterm part of your brain, causing you to remember more and put it into what you call "muscle memory" all because you're happy!
Speaking of the arts, I play guitar, ukulele, charango, piano, and I sing! I've been a musician since 2000, and I've successfully turned a hobby into something my husband and I have been doing full time for several years. For beginners, something that works best is taking a song that you LOVE and turning it into your anthem on the instrument of your choice. So pick your song and message me!
Last but not least, I'm a painter. Painting is my favorite part of any day. About my childhood, I can candidly say I had the best stepmom. She would let me take her enormous canvases, oil paints, and brushes and just let me at it. Of course at first they were all of my hand prints and rainbows, but she got me curious, and eventually we started going to museums. I've seen Vangogh, Monet, Divinci, Picasso, and many more as they toured through our city. I began to study their techniques and grow my gift. My "Mama Sue" gifted me a hunger for creativity and excellence, and I can't thank her enough. Painting with me, you will grow in your technique, skill, and confidence, and pick up a little artist history along the way.
I'm looking forward to meeting you and helping you accomplish your dreams!
Loren is an amazing teacher. She is patient, kind and caring. She listened to what I needed in preparation for going to Valencia Spain and then customized the lessons. I think we had a lot of fun together as I slowly began to catch on to the dialect of eastern Spain. BTW - she also knows French! I wish her the very best as she continues teaching others!

Loren is a absolute joy! You will feel so empowered to learn guitar for her even after the first lesson. Plus, she uses many other methods to teach guitar that it feels like you’re having fun and learning at the same time.

Amazing! Loren is a wonderful instructor- I can’t believe how much I learned during my very first lesson. She was knowledgeable, patient, thorough and such a kind person. I can’t wait for my next lesson!!
I am an oil painter working towards my MFA and years of experience. I have taught at ateliers in NYC and around the country. I break down the approach of painting and break down idea development into easy to follow methods and cater the lessons to what the individual student is interested in pursuing. Come paint with me! It will be fun!
I am a painter in New York City currently enrolled in an MFA studio painting program at New York Studio School. I received her BFA from The Columbus College of Art and Design (2005). My work has been exhibited in the US and internationally at PAC Marseille in Marseille, France, el patio de mi casa in Harlem, New York (2018) and Woodstock Museum, NY (2016).
I have lectured and taught workshops for The Art Students League and SUNY at New Paltz over the last five years. I love talking about art and the process of making.
I teach my students in my home studio in Harlem, New York. I'm also available to travel to my clients and work outdoors in an en Plein air setting as well. I work with artists with different skill levels and with a variety of artistic goals.
Some of the topics and concepts I regularly teach: paint handling acryli
c and oil medium, color theory, composition, depth, movement, rhythm, abstraction from life, mixed media, detachment, paint application, how to stretch canvases and safety.
"I had the crazy idea of gifting to the girl I like a painting of her favorite flower. She lives in Shanghai and I was flying to over from New York. The pr
oblem was that I did not know how to paint. Because I had been so busy with work, I waited until last week before my flight to take lessons. Guiseppe guided me on how to approach my project and how to mix colors. Could not have done it without his instruction. Thank you."
"She is great! I have learned a lot and had so much fun with her. She refreshed my mind after 17 years of not touching any brush neither doing any sketch
ing.... I highly recommend her and can't wait for her upcoming classes in her own studio!"
"Melissa is an awesome instructor. She let me take my time. Easy to work with. Very detailed, can't wait for my next class."
"Megan is a fabulous teacher, dedicated to helping us explore and learn her art and the nuances of painting. She also has a very pleasant and sweet dispos
ition - something that makes 4 self-critical new painters more at ease with the process."
"I made a last minute lesson with Megan as I panicked about a university project that I was in no way prepared for. She is a calming and professional energ
y that guides you along the first few movements. At the end of the class she summed up what the next steps would be, making sure to set me up for success. I will definitely be signing up again!"
"I had three other painting instructors before I came upon Megan's class and I will say she is the best painting teacher I have had and that does not come
easy because I am a professional sculptor that has taught and taken many classes in the art field. Simply put Megan is at the top of her game and her style of teaching is one that most anybody will benefit from her classes."
"Daniel is a great instructor! He works with you to better understand the fundamentals of how a painting is properly constructed. I enjoy his teachings and
look forward to several more already booked!"
"Sharron was an awesome instructor!!! She was very professional. She showed up early to set up for my daughter's paint and sip party. Sharron gave very det
ailed descriptions to help guide the amateur artists. Everyone enjoyed the personal feedback that was given. Sharron made our party a huge success. I would definitely recommend her services."
"I am a beginner and was stuck w not knowing how to get a particular look I liked in my paintings. She showed me several techniques and different mediums
