I credit my first piano teacher for giving me the courage, technique, and love of music that has made me into the performer and teacher that I am today. This passion has led me to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan, and currently I am pursuing my Master’s degree in classical vocal performance at the Mannes School of Music. My goal now is to inspire my students with the same fundamentals and joy for music that my first teacher instilled in me.
Beginning students of all ages are welcome, and styles that I teach include classical and pop. Lessons will focus on technique, reading, ear training, and basic music theory. Everyone is unique and has their own learning style, and I tailor my teaching to each individual. I love to helping others understand and play the piano and achieve their personal musical goals. It would be a pleasure to help you learn!

Styles that I teach include art song, opera, and musical theater, with a focus on building a solid and healthy vocal technique.
I have acquired many different tools for teaching through my studies and teaching experience. My experience in dance, Alexander Technique, and acting informs my teaching approach. I include body awareness, character interpretation, and making the music come alive as an integral part of the lessons.
Everyone has a unique voice and learning style and I tailor my teaching to each individual. I love to teach and enjoy helping others discover thei

I'm an advanced singer who has worked with Isabel on a few art songs, and she taught me so much! She has a natural knack for helping with song interpretation, and her focus on staying vocally healthy really helped me stay on track. Totally recommend!

Isabel is very professional and fun to work with. In our first few lessons, we worked on solidifying some basic fundamentals of singing (proper breathing, posture, etc.) and have since moved on to some simple songs/arias. She is a wonderful teacher for beginners like me, but with her skill level, I can see her as being an exceptional teacher for more advanced students as well.
Because different types of people learn differently, as a piano teacher, I pride myself in being adjustable to each student and their needs to start or further their knowledge of the piano and music theory. I am also well-versed in several different genres or styles of playing such as classical, pop, jazz, Japanese, and playing by ear. I am confident in catering my lessons towards what each person wants to learn at various difficulties.
I started playing the piano when I was just 4 years old--though at the time, I practice begrudgingly, music took hold of me ever since. Music is a great way to express oneself and share with others how you feel where words may fail. I am a big believer of art helping to bridge gaps and help communication with those around us.
Because of teachers I've had that were strict when I needed a push, funny, eccentric, and caring when I needed a laugh, and most importantly believed in me, I aspire to provide the same encouragement to others.

Francis ignited his passion for jazz music in Austin, “the live music capital of the world.” While continuing his classical piano studies, he took up jazz piano with Jeff Hellmer and started playing with many musicians on the Austin jazz scene. He also worked as the Assistant Artistic Director and Lead Pianist for “Life in the City,” a weekly concert with jazz music and other ge
nres. Francis’ final doctorate thesis in the work of Nikolai Kapustin solidified his interest in combining elements of classical music with the jazz idiom.
After graduation, Francis moved to New York City to attend the Jazz Studies Masters Program at New York University. While acting as an Adjunct Instructor of Piano at NYU, he studied with renowned musicians on today’s jazz scene, including: John Scofield, Stefon Harris, Don Friedman, Alan Broadbent, Billy Drummond, Alex Sipiagin, Ralph Lalama, Billy Drewes, Ron McClure, Tony Moreno, Alan Ferber, Michael Rodriguez, and others. In 2017, Francis co-founded World Jazz Quintet (WJQ) along with Dr. Scott Litroff, David Ullmann, Jeong Hwan Park, and Daisuke Konno. The WJQ draws from a variety of styles including jazz standard, American and Asian pop, contemporary, experimental, and folk music from around the world to produce a truly unique and highly improvisational sound.
Francis' jazz trio debut album, "Before Dawn," was released in 2018 to positive media reviews. The album consists almost entirely of Francis’ original compositions and arrangements and features Billy Drummond. Audio of the album is available on all music platforms.
