I began playing piano at 18 years old as a music major at Macomb Community College. I think I was the only one who was thrilled to be playing piano. I quickly advanced through the 3 group classes and then private lessons. I love teaching piano to students of all levels and all ages.
I teach all levels of piano. I currently use the Alfred books for the first 3 levels of books and then we move to the Snell piano repertoire books for the following levels. I also have many fun solo books for students.

I am a beginning singer, my only prior experience was singing with the congregation in church, not the choir.

I have 20 years experience teaching piano, and I love it! What I have learned over the years is that every student learns differently. I make it my personal goal to find creative and practical ways to help each student understand and thrive in their own way. Have trouble sight reading? I can help with that! Play by ear? I can help with that, too. I teach classical, new age, pop, and sacred music. I'm also a composer and arranger, and very familiar using Finale and Smart Score programs. As for piano books, I like to use Faber or Alfred's series, but am open to using whatever books you may already have. Thank you for taking the time to read my page, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Need to work on your major or minor scales? Piano songs abound by both classical and contemporary pianists that can help you improve your skills. Here, St. Augustine, FL Heather L. shares her recommendations. Even as a piano teacher, I can be sympathetic to students who find themselves practicing major and minor scales over and over without any variation. Scales are often cited as the least favorite part of taking piano lessons. Sometimes, well, a lot of the time, the best way t …
