Music college graduate, with plenty of experience in real-world musical settings and five years of teaching experience. When it comes to teaching I have plenty of patience and no judgment! I like to think of learning piano like hiking an unpaved trail to a destination. At times the trail can become difficult and you might be tempted to give up on the destination. But as you gain momentum and your destination gets closer and closer, one realizes their past troubles were worth their current gains.

My lessons are tailored toward each student's goals but I always include certain topics. The core of my ...

The teacher is nice and patient, My daughter just turned 4 when she first started the lesson. I was afraid she was going to find this difficult and boring. But instead she has enjoyed each lesson and has made surprising progress. The lesson is talored to her short attention span, mixed with games and fun motivation. We have enjoyed the lessons."

Julia deftly adapted her instruction to accommodate our daughter's interactivity level, and never over-praised, as modern psychology says is the correct way.
Our daughter practices spontaneously on her own, which can be at least partially attributed to Julia's teaching style.

Revitalizing the “Rock City” through Detroit Piano Lessons
By Nic. C - Detroit Piano Teacher
It seems as though many Detroit families own a piano; whether a grand, a small electronic Casio or one of the old outmoded Grinnell uprights made here in Detroit. We are a city of music through and through. From the old Motown recordings that helped to bridge racial issues in the time of the civil rights movement, to Bob Seger’s message of hard work and peace, to Kid Rock’s promise of the good life, our city has always had an incredible sense of community based around our hometown music. As a local piano instructor, I used to see this hometown pride carry over into the Detroit piano lessons I teach to students of all ages.
Amidst the tough economic situation our area is facing today, the sense of community that was formed through music is vanishing as quickly as the automotive jobs that once kept this city thriving. The schools have cut their budgets for music to next to nothing, club owners pay their musicians less and less, and fewer and fewer families have money for Detroit piano lessons. The interest in the arts for our children is vanishing like all of those Grinnell pianos made here in Detroit so many years ago.
Although challenging, the situation isn’t all bleak. Thanks to you, the parents of the children that I am so blessed to teach through TakeLessons.com, we can work to restore and revitalize our city back to the glory it once held as “Rock City.” Together, one Detroit piano lesson at a time, we will shape not only the future of our city, but the futures of the children in it.

Once you know some common variants, you’ll be able to create your own music, learn and sight-read written music more quickly, and have a greater understanding of music in general. First, what are piano chord progressions? Chord progressions are simply a sequence of chords. (A chord is two or more notes played together). Chord progressions exist to develop the music in a harmonically meaningful way. Often you can hea …
