About Robert
Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs the right key to tap into their own creativity.

For beginners it's important to study with an excellent teacher. Setting a solid and creative foundation makes all the difference!
For advanced players studying with a great artist takes you greater artistry.

Weekly private lessons focus on technical skills in either piano, voice (or a combination of both) and a strong musical foundation. Theory and Ear Training are fundamentals that are embedded in this approach to developing a complete musician and artist.

I have over 20 years exper
ience working with students as young as 3 and old as 85! Often multiple generations in a family study together making for a rich family experience.

Performance opportunities: Recitals, Concerts Cabarets and Musicals are a part of developing into a musician and singer and enhancing a love of music that will last a lifetime!

*** Lesson Details ***
Piano - Classical, Jazz, Blues and Improvisation. Current students are beginners to professional musicians and music teachers.

Voice – I am an accomplished vocal coach and songwriter and currently work with a wide variety of singers from young beginners to professionals who look to develop through ear training, singing and songwriting. In a unique way I guide people to become better performers and musicians through the combination of voice, piano and composition.

I work with students as young as 3 or 4 and into their 80’s. It’s important to begin with an excellent teacher from the start to set a good foundation and to have the ability to develop as quickly and thoroughly as possible. I enjoy working with beginners as well as accomplished musicians. I also believe that music is one of the great joys of life and that lessons should be FUN!

Besides a wide variety of performance opportunities through my Family to Family Concerts, I also offer my students the curriculum and exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, a gold standard music curriculum.. The ABRSM is accredited in over 100 countries worldwide and exams are offered twice per year in all instruments and voice.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson room with grand piano, vocal mics, recording equipment. Parents can sit in on lessons and waiting area available, parking on street. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
They will need a piano or keyboard

*** Specialties ***
A message from Robert: Hello, I am a master teacher focusing on the classical repertoire along with a very creative approach to improvisation and composition. I help students to achieve their interests of music rather than focusing on teaching one particular method. Classes are tailored to the student and constantly evolving. This has led me to work in a variety of mediums and styles including Jazz, improvisation, rock and blues. This approach also enhances an understanding and love of classical music.
I also guide my students in the curriculum and exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. (ABRSM) Exams are offered twice per year.
I have also found it inspiring to work with people with disabilities and help them find a way to express themselves musically. I give lectures and workshops in the area and around the country on improvisation and creativity along with concerts of my own music.
I also work with a number of students in vocal coaching and accompanying.
New this year are seminars in songwriting for adults and children. Groups of 4-5 collaborate on new songs. Film and video composition coming soon!

About Benjamin
I discovered music sifting through my Dad's record collection and soon decided that I wanted to play guitar. As a teenager I began taking lessons and building confidence in my abilities. I played in different types of bands ranging from rock, country, blues, and jazz. After completing College in 2004, I realized music was not just going to be a hobby, but a career. At age 35, I have been teaching and playing guitar professionally for the last 11 years. I believe that anybody can learn to play as long as they are patient and understand that anything worthwhile takes time and sustained effort to achieve. You also need a good teacher who understands how to take you where you want to go musically. I have taught hundreds of different students of all ages and abilities. I have seen many of them grow musically and gain confidence in other
areas of their lives as a result. I aim to inspire every student to find their way to a rewarding life through music.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson plans are developed on an individual basis. I want you to learn the music that inspires your passion. If the guitar is new to you, the first lessons are devoted to basic playing skills and techniques. It is important to develop a strong understanding of music fundamentals to ensure that the student is attaining the skills they need to be a complete musician. I emphasize technique with drills designed to raise my students' skills evenly across a wide range of categories, like picking, fretting, scale patterns, chord shapes, rhythm training, and ear training. I have had success with many students using this approach and most are playing songs within a couple months. For the more serious student, music theory is an important tool to understand songwriting and music in general. I am always open to discuss what we do during a lesson. I believe it is my job to balance what you want to do with what you need to do in order to succeed.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have amps, guitars, 1/4 inch cables, tuners, metronomes, paper and pens.
Would like students to have all these things but can accommodate based on need.

*** Specialties ***
Rock, Pop, Blues, Country, flat-picking, finger-style

Ben is an amazing guitar teacher who is patient and always willing to work with a busy schedule. As a senior in high school, many things pop up and we are always able to work around it. His lessons are based around what the students want to learn and he always finds a way to accomplish it. He has a great deal of knowledge in music theory and has helped me many times stay ahead in my music theory class in school and more importantly how to tie it in musically. As a performing musician as well, he has experience and other bits of wisdom about music and beyond that he can/will share and has which I feel is important as well.

I am a beginner guitar player inspiring to become the next Eddie Hazel (Of Funkadelic fame for you unenlightened ones). I was referred to Jeremy by a former music teacher at Anne Arundel Community College. I was able to set up a weekly time with him at his house. He has a very clean and professional setting. I have been taking lessons under Jeremy's tutelage for a few months now. I have to say I am surprised at my own progress. My technical skills are blossoming but it's the music theory that is the real gift that Jeremy has given me. I always shrugged theory off thinking if I can hear it, I can play it. But now I am beginning to see the doors that music theory can open. Music is a vast universe and I have to give him credit for opening my ears, eyes, and mind to the possibilities of soooouuunds.

About Rachel
Rachel started playing guitar and singing when she was 13 when she got a Christmas present from her father who happens to be a musician, also. Learning covers for a few years she eventually started writing her own music around age 16. Now, 31, she teaches beginner guitar classes; holds online concerts as well as live shows; and teaches budding artists how to start their own creative business from home. Her teaching passion came from her love for the experience- having played in bands since 18; recorded a full album when in 2011. Some tracks were salvage but most were lost on an old computer!

Her style is considered Indie Folk, playing a mix of covers and originals. Rachel's recommended if you like Heartless Bastards, Shawn Colvin or Fiona Apple. Her main influences are Radiohead, Gwen Stefani, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse and Dea
th Cab for Cutie.

About Ailey
Hello everyone!

Welcome to The Sunny Side Piano Studio! I'm very looking forward to meeting and working with you!
My name is Ailey and I will be your new piano teacher and we will be walking this amazing journey together! Isn't it interesting!!! I'm glad you chose me as your new teacher and I'm very excited to have you as my new student!
I'm a specialized, professional classical pianist, travelling around the United States, Asia, and Canada for various fundraising and solo concerts. I've been teaching children, age from 3 to 15 and beyond for almost ten years!
My profession is spreading the music and its love to the people who appreciate its magic, but my most important goal is to share the music with young people who love to learn and play it!
Music is a lot of fun and so is piano! Piano is a magic instrument! You will love learn
ing it and playing it for yourself, your family, friends, and your puppies too!
I am very thrilled to share my passion for music with you! and I hope you and I will be new best friends, beyond being just a teacher and a student!
I am a very funny and kind teacher:) When you meet me, you will realize "she is very funny" HAHA!!!
Just choose me and you will see why many students have worked with me and love learning music with me! And let me know if you have any questions about lessons or anything that is not about music too! I'm more than happy to answer them for you!

One thing! If you are interested in booking lessons with me, please only book five! Sometimes it is very difficult to find a good, I mean "really-good-matching" teacher for a student. I want to be the best teacher for you and I promise I will, but if for any reasons, we are not good matches, I will try my best to find a good one for you!

Thank you!!!

Cheers!

Your new music friend/teacher

SooJi has been teaching my 11 year old son for three years. I remember the day I met her. She was smiling for whole time of our first meeting. She helped us getting a good conditioned used keyboard for practice, by taking her time. One thing I always wondered was "does she have anger?" Before being a father, I'm also an artist, painter, so I know ho some artist behave which irritates me sometimes. SooJi recommended me to stay during few lessons so I can observe my son's improvements over time. She never gets mad. Literally, NEVER. Being a teacher is difficult job. Students can be rude and that makes teachers angry and sometimes lessons go real wrong. One day, my son got so tired that he couldn't focus on lesson. I got mad but SooJi said "that's ok. I understand. People work and get tired and that's normal. We have few minutes left so why don't we play something fun then?" and my son smiled. I don't know, but I can definitely feel SooJi has a very special talent of making people feel better and more comfortable. She knows how to ease people and how to deal with problems without getting angry or shouting at kids. Her lessons are so much fun, yet so much learning too. Sometimes even I enjoyed the lesson and I participated and SooJi and my son laughed at me haha. Before meeting her, my son never knew the "music" but after having lessons with her, my son already just completed his third solo recital which was around 40 minutes. I was so proud of him that I actually cried during the concert. SooJi is not just a teacher. My son one day told me that SooJi is his best friend. They get along well, my son laughs a lot which doesn't happen often and SooJi makes silly jokes that make him feel ease during lessons. They are just too many good things I can say about her, but I won't because it will get way longer.
One thing I want to say is if people want to be a teacher, they need to learn from her. They need to observe SooJi's talent, humor, kindness, and smiles. We love her so much and we appreciate her playing during our wedding. Thank you SooJi! You are our second daughter! We love you so much!

SooJi, I don't even know where to begin...
She is an amazing human being in general. I pick up things very easy but for some reasons, Korean was and is a really challenge for me. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe because I want to learn this more than anything else? Maybe my brain wants to work harder to get where my heart is? who knows. But I do know why I'm even progressing in this challenge. "A good teacher" ca inspire, hope, stimulate the imagination, and instal "a love of learning" It that quote and a title, it would be SooJi. She is truly my only role model. I'm not exactly sure why she is this to me, but she is. I respect her so much and she inspires me all the time. Honestly, I can't imagine my life without her in it. SooJi means so much to me. More than what can be expressed with pretty little words. A teacher is supposed to give hope to students, but she does so much more She IS so much more. She isn't my teacher anymore. She is my friend, my role model, my sister. Because of her, hearts have changed, hearts have healed, and bonds have been created that some blonde little girls can't get anywhere else. Yes, sometimes SooJi scolds us, but that's what she's supposed to do. We know she cares even more when she does this because she wants us to grow. Without her, I don't think I would know anything nearly as close to what I know now. Not just the language, but also the culture. I want to always have someone like SooJi in my life. Someone who inspires and loves me. SooJi is honestly so amazing and perfect as a teacher, best friend and sister! I love her so much! I miss you!
