Age-Appropriate areas of instruction include:
-Painting Techniques such as Layering, Mixing, Washes, and Glazing.
-Understanding Composition.
-Understanding Color Theory: Opposites or “complementary colors” on the color wheel; Painting with medium tones, so that highlights and shadows can be applied easily. Using multiple colors equals “depth” and “interest.”
-How to Mix Paint: Mixing using the palette knife, brush, on palette, or on painting.

Painting An Outlet! A Voice! A Therapy! A Career of serious potential. I am flexible as a teacher and will work with you and your goals. We can set a Plan and begin working from where you feel most ready. If its your first time with a brush I will start with the relationship painters you will establish with color, brush, and materials. These things can feel extremely technical and awkward but i can say I didn't find my own successful style until the techniques were with me like taking a breath. Its your lesson so we can be as disciplined as you want to progress. You will love it! Painting is such an emotion partner!

About Amber
I am an Art Educator, art is my life along with my two beautiful children 12 and 9 years old. They both enjoy doing art as well. I began treating art as a career in high school, my first show! I am so glad schools are now starting art shows at the elementary level, it gives students a sense of importance to those that see art as their talent; the ability to visually talk to the world. I love being a teacher; the questions, the discoveries of concepts, and of ourselves. I continue to take classes and train as I teach. The journey goes on! I hope to be able to assist in your journey of art discovery.

Eli is fantastic and has a great rapport with kids. He seems incredibly knowledgeable, very response, nice and funny, and currently teaches in an amazing artists space. He challenged my daughter outside of her normal comfort zone in a super fun way and she immediately asked for more lessons after the initial trial. Will definitely continue with more lessons.

I am a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA) majoring in visual artists and continued my studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art. In my spare time, I've taught for the last 15 years. I've tutored actual BSA students. I love painting. I love teaching art. It is an expression of an individual's personal journey.

The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop.

Students will be introduced to the color wheel, basic materials needed, perspective, and the differences between realistic and impressionistic painting techniques. Materials are not included.

Acrylic painting lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals.

About Sharron
My resume includes graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts and continued studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art until I decided I didn’t want to be a “Starving Artist”. So, I graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Management. My education also includes 27 graduate credits that were leading to a Master’s in Public Administration when I decided to discontinue that path. After twenty-five years in the public sector, I decided to revisit my passion for art in my spare time. As a youngster, I remember wanting to teach art in schools, but I did not want the restrictions that are present in the classrooms and more so today. All forms of art is a freeing practice that is practiced and developed over time.

Sharron was an awesome instructor!!! She was very professional. She showed up early to set up for my daughter's paint and sip party. Sharron gave very detailed descriptions to help guide the amateur artists. Everyone enjoyed the personal feedback that was given. Sharron made our party a huge success. I would definitely recommend her services.

Experienced teacher, specializing in the beginner & intermediate artist! Learn to paint what you see, and express how you feel with a paintbrush. Lessons are customized and catered to the experience level of each student. Learn the basics of color theory, shading & lighting, and much more. Let's get started!

About Jen
Hello!

MY NAME IS Jen
I've been an artist for as far back as I can remember, and have been perfecting my technique every step of the way. For me, each piece created is a learning experience. I grew up watching Bob Ross paint his pine trees and effortless mountains, all the while instilling in me that there are no mistakes in art, only happy accidents. I was also greatly inspired by a woman named Nan, that I took private lessons from in New Hampshire, in 1995. She encouraged me to think outside the box of only shading with black, always had incense burning, and gave us dried apricots to snack on. She is also a big reason why I've decided to explore the world of teaching private lessons myself; I'd love to be someone else's "Nan" one day.

I currently volunteer teaching group art classes once a week in Marietta. It's an amazing
community center for those in recovery from addiction.

I earned a 2 year certificate from Chattahoochee Technical College for Digital and Multimedia design in 2014. I've also been studying German for about a year and a half. I would love to travel there one day and paint Plein Air (and if you don't know what that is, I'll teach you!)

I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your journey to becoming a better artist!

Painting is a great creative outlet for people to spend time relaxing and make something beautiful that brings you pride and joy. Anyone can paint! All it takes is time and a willingness to make mistakes and learn from them. I’ve been painting for 8 years and teaching for 1. I welcome all students who are interested in picking up painting as new hobby or returning after a long time away. We’ll build out your painting techniques and color theory so you can paint from real life or something abstract.

About David
I have a bachelors degree in printmaking and oil painting and spent some time in Florence Italy studying painting and drawing through the high renaissance masters. Currently I draw and paint in my spare time. I love teaching art as a way to connect with other artist and creative people who like talking about and creating art.

Through introducing or reviewing the fundamental principles in art and applying those to the lessons and exercises I assign for after class hours, you’ll see yourself improve week after week and gain more confidence in your artistic ability. I create a custom syllabus for you to review and work in things you’d like to try, certain mediums or subject matter to make it more appealing to you.

Making art should be fun and restorative! There’s a reason all of Bob Ross’s trees and clouds were so happy! Often times my s
tudents and I will have class in a park on a nice day or at museum.

I've been taking private lessons from David Lavis for six months to better my technique in portrait art. David is a great instructor who takes the time to ensure I've embraced the concepts and that I can demonstrate my understanding on the canvas. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone wanting to better their skills.

My beliefs about teaching and learning begin with my desire to promote acceptance through art. Art is a language of expression available and accessible to everyone. I enjoy using various media for beginners as well as advanced levels.
I’ve always been attracted to religious paintings of the 15th century Flemish and Italian Renaissance artists. The gracefulness of the form was rendered with a perfect balance. The exquisite technical execution speaks to me of the enduring power of beauty.
I have a tremendous appreciation for a contemporary art. However, I am drawn more toward the classic academic art style.

About Fatima
From my early childhood I was exposed to an extreme diversity in cultures which played an important role in the feature of my artistic vision. Since I can remember, I drew on every surface I could get my hands on.
Today as a professional artist I exhibit my work in galleries of US and other countries.

About Helen
I truly enjoy sharing what I have learned over a 35+ year career in the visual arts.

My style capabilities range from super Realism to more Expressionistic images, and my studio offers many mediums from drawing ( pencil, charcoal, oil and dry pastels, conte crayons) to painting (acrylic, oil, watercolor).

I welcome all ages and abilities. Currently teaching an accomplished artist who wants to compete in a painting festival, a writer who has a natural talent for painting but never has the opportunity to be taught, and a 9 year old who's mother really sees some creative potential in her daughter!
