I've been teaching viola for 3 years and my students have felt more prepared in their community and school orchestras. As students progress they will better understand scales, bow technique, and musical phrasing. I specialize in beginning technique, typically use Essential Elements books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: personalized exercise packets, a keyboard, and scores. Something different about me is that I offer students methods to begin composition. Adult students are welcome. For lessons, parents are welcome to sit in!

Having taught and performed for over 30 years, I have had the pleasure of working with students of all levels and ages. For beginning students, you can expect to be playing and learning to read music within your first month of taking lessons. I am happy to say that my intermediate and advanced students have met goals of preparing for auditions with success, performance events, and simply studying new technique and repertoire for their own pleasure. I look forward to meeting and sharing your musical endeavors!

Being a violin and viola teacher for the past 25 years, I love imparting to my students the how-to of tone production, and can teach from beginner all the way to auditions. My teaching experience covers over 3 decades. I am of a direct teaching lineage to the legendary Clara Schumann. My students have won competitions. To see my teaching style go to YouTube Stephanie Quinn Music and look for my masterclasses. If you follow my micro-management and practice directions, you will succeed with your goals!!

I love teaching strings. I focus heavily on bow technique. I have gotten students into youth orchestras and passed college auditions. I like to use the Essential Elements and Suzuki books. I also offer online group lessons at a highly discounted price. I suggest that all my students join. This is a great option for kids while class is out.

Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime. After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing multiple songs.

I'm an experienced and dedicated musician, having played with Orchestras and Chamber groups throughout my state. My lessons are focused on relaxation, and am as laid back or strict as the student needs. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, shooting to be a church player or a pro, I have taught students for that and am the teacher for you.

I feel what makes taking lessons with me unique is my experience teaching private violin and viola lessons in Texas public schools (grades 6-12) and my career as a professional musician having performed in many orchestral, opera, and chamber music settings. Through the lens of that performed experience, I know how crucial an education that includes classical music can be in a student’s overall academic development and maturation. Though not everyone pursues music as a career, no matter the student’s age, I wish to ultimately be a positive support system in fostering their development in their mirrored desirability to make classical music and incorporate it's richness and beauty into their life.

I was raised in the Suzuki method, trained in it, and I believe in it. It is the most effective school of education for new musicians who want to learn reliably. I've been teaching it 6 years. I can talk to you for days about the method, but I will sum it up as quickly as i can. 1: Immersion 2: Daily Practice 3: Listening 4: Strong relationship between student, teacher and parent. If the student listens everyday, practices everyday, practices what i tell them, and is made to love the music, you will learn. I've taught hundreds of students this way and when all the conditions are met, all my students have had success.
