Gerson R.

Irving, TX

About Gerson

Hey guys, my name is Gerson born and raised in Irving, TX. I am from the DFW area. I was introduce to drums at a very young age in my early pre-teen life. I've been playing drums for over eight years right now. I grew up playing at my church and seeing myself grow there. As the years gone by I was introduce to a great global drummer in the Christian market name Keith Banks. Were I went to learn more about drums at Christ For The Nations Institute. Then after that I played and travel with many worship bands around the DFW area and around the US. After that I went to study music theory and jazz,
at North Lake College were it help me grow even more as musician. I was thought by a great jazz drummer name Gene Glover who played in the 1 o-clock bad at North Texas and many more jazz artist. Right now I am playing drums at my home church Iglesia Envagelica Bethel in Irving TX, and currently touring and playing drums for Denis Campos.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a vision where I see my student take his drumming to a level where he can never imagine. I am a very laid back person, I never want to pressure a student or make them feel uncomfortable at any time. The curriculum that I use includes basic drums notations and time signatures which is by Mark Wessels A Fresh Approach to the Snare Drum. If the student practices consistently they will understand how drums can relate to the music learning how to keep time and be a great pocket drummer, and develop their foot speed and hands.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio Lessons are in the garage which includes carpet, recording studio, drums, bass, guitars, mics, and seating. No pets. Parking on the side or street.

*** Travel Equipment ***
They should have a metronome a drum set, sticks, practice pad and a notebook. I usually bring my sticks and sometimes cymbals if they don't have any. The student needs to provide a full drum kit if he or she does not want to use a practice pad.

*** Specialties ***
I like to get connected with the student make him feel comfortable. The styles that I teach is in Latin jazz. Progressive and contemporary also funk and gospel.

We met up with Gerson at Murphy's Music in Irving for our drum lessons. Gerson is as he describes himself, "very laid back and easy going". I would add that he was always professional and knows when to challenge and help his student grow.
He will make you feel at ease and meet you at whatever level you are at.
You can tell he has a great passion for music and why he makes it his chosen profession. We found him to be very reliable and yet flexible should schedules change.

I am an adult beginner and Scott has the unique ability to guide me along the DIFFICULT challenge of learning the piano while, at the same time, challenging me to do my best. I'm sure he is as sensitive with children and treat each as the individual they are.

Colton K.

Dallas, TX

About Colton

Colton is a Certified
Music Teacher.

Want to learn piano but not sure where you want to start? Want to learn not just beautiful classics but rockin' blues riffs and jazz improvisation as well? I've played piano for over twenty years now in almost every setting imaginable: classical concerts, jam bands, vocal accompaniment.

Or perhaps you'd like to learn low brass? Maybe you want to rip out some licks on a tuba, trombone, or euphonium? I started with euphonium in 6th grade fifteen years ago and have since played low brass in both classical ensembles and a gigging New Orleans brass ban
d, and I can certainly develop these skill sets for you as well.

Maybe you want to delve into the electronic world of sound recording, session engineering, and music post-production. Using Pro Tools, Logic Pro X and Ableton live, I can teach you mixing, correct recording techniques for any instrument, and general mastering. This is a particular favorite of mine!

On top of any or all of these things, I'll teach you excellent music theory in order to put the whole sandwich together!

I can teach you everything you need to start out or develop as an awesome musician who will be able to perform in front of any crowd (or just for themselves), and I look forward to the adventures we'll have.

*** Lesson Details ***
I would say a student starting with me can expect a mixture of somewhat-strict, high expectations while at the same time making time for goofiness and fun (fun is what music is all about) We will go places with your music you didn't know existed, and you'll be blown away after merely a few lessons with how far you've already progressed!

After 3 to 6 months with me as a beginner, you will have a solid understanding of the rudiments of your instrument (piano, tuba, etc.) as well as a grip on the beginnings of music theory, and various other things you may want to focus on.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music studio with piano/keyboards, guitars, and seating for parents. Brass lessons will take place in the parlor, with more room and a higher ceiling for the sounds to reverberate more clearly.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide my instrument, curriculum, metronome and tuner, and extra staff paper and writing utensils for notes. Student will provide their instrument and any assigned curriculum.

*** Specialties ***
Jazz, Improvisation, Electronic music, Sound engineering and recording. Rare brass techniques-- extreme pedal tones, high ranges, multiphonics, etc.

Professional, fun, well-worth-it

Colton has provided excellent Tuba lessons for my 6th grader playing music for the first time. He is responsive to student needs and moves at a just right pace. He is friendly and fun. He addresses what my son is needing to practice for school and then takes it to the next level. He covers not only the skills for playing the tuba but also etiquette of instrument care, being in an ensemble, and music theory. He's easy to schedule with. Highly recommended.

Expect great things with Colton

Colton is passionate about music and you can see that right away after 5 minutes of talking to him. He is incredibly talented and my emotions during the lesson range from intimidation, respect, to excitement and motivation. Colton should be found teaching at a university sharing coffee with tweed covered professors leading hoards of students to musical enlightenment. His excitement for music is contagious and I leave the lesson feeling recharged for my practices and ready to take on new projects. He has a way of demanding the best of you and having a good time altogether without you even noticing.

Excellent. Related to my son very well. We have had many music teachers as our kids of taking piano for years but relatively new to the sax and we've been very impressed by Julian.

I’ve had the pleasure of taking saxophone and flute lessons from Julian for the past six years and also studied music theory and beginning keyboard with him. Julian knows music inside out and is a consummate professional.

It’s fun studying music with Julian; he’s very patient and easy going and does an excellent job of identifying areas where I need to improve. His explanations are clear and concise. His lessons are always enjoyable and I improve after each one.

Julian always steers me toward the etudes and music that are the most beneficial for me.

He takes the time to make sure I’m doing new things correctly, even if it means spending more time on something than we planned. He has great love and enthusiasm for music and I always come away from my lesions more highly motivated. I highly recommend him for both student and adult instruction.

In addition to being an excellent teacher, Julian is a full-time professional musician and performer. I’ve seen him perform a number of times and he’s a terrific saxophone player. If you are interested in becoming a professional musician he knows the business from first-hand experience.
