About Jerry
Jerry W. holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University, as well as a Master of Music Pedagogy and Performance from Oklahoma State University. He is a published research assistant as well as the author of 6 books on sight reading. He is also the inventor of the game "guitar bingo." He cites Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Bill Lafleur, Alex Machacek and Monte Montgomery to be among his most powerful influences.

Lesson format is as follows: First, a short drill of fundamentals (this can include scales, arpeggios, exercises, etc.). Second, a short segment of reading. Third, the study of a piece of music (usually in the favored style chosen by the student). This third section of the lesson is very important as the focus is on the practical application of the fundamentals previ
ously studied. Fourth, a short segment involving improvisation (again, typically in the style of music chosen by the student).

About Perry
Hello!

My name is Perry and I am a professional classical, flamenco and electric guitarist performing and recording in the Dallas area. I studied with Robert Guthrie at SMU for many years, as well as Brad McLemore of "Soul Food Cafe" and professional jazz musician Chuck Pangburn at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. In addition, I have taken masterclasses w/ many professional guitarists in all styles such as the flamenco guitarist Miguel Antonio.

I am familiar with all styles. I teach using a foundation in classical/flamenco style and technique. I have found that for my own career as a recording artist in both the classical, acoustic and electric guitar fields that the classical/flamenco styles are the most useful for developing and training the hands to become a consummate professional.

I teac
h beginner to advanced students of any age. I also can provide pro and amateur electric guitarists an in-depth study of correct hand postures and left-hand/right-hand technique which can help to refine their overall technique and stylistic approach. I can also advise professional electric guitarists on their electronics, effects pedals, and amplifiers to achieve their own individual sound. I also teach Bass, and reading the Bass clef.

My teaching specialties include: Solfeggio, Sight Reading, Music Theory, Scales and Modes, Left and Right Hand Technique, Blues Progressions, Jazz Standards the Classical Repertoire, Flamenco styles, techniques and repertoire, and the works of Sor, Giuliani, and Carcassi, Brouwer, Aguado, Villa-Lobos, Sabicas and Paco de Lucia.

I have an in-depth knowledge of the stylistic approaches and techniques of such guitarists as Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, and SRV to name a few, and I can teach you the components they use to build their signature licks.

As a rule I only transcribe to give the students examples for lessons. I intend for all of my students to grow as musicians, so my lessons do not consist solely of transcribed solos and riffs.

I have a vast library of music, so I can draw from my own resources to teach you, or from a method of your choosing.

My schedule has a few openings right now. I do teach outside of my stated teaching radius, but ONLY at the 60 minute rate.

I teach people of all ages, from children to adults. I believe everyone is on an even keel, if they are willing and eager to learn.

*** Lesson Details ***
Emphasis on classical posture and technique.
Emphasis on sight-reading.
All students learn to play basic blues and jam
Technique varies depending on the particular style the student wishes to learn.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I presently don't teach in my home studio. I can bring a folding music stand or extra footstool if necessary.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a limited number of learning materials such as copied exercises, listening or practicing CD on occasion. However, I feel that it is the student's responsibility to provide their own guitars, and the bulf of their own learning materials and necessary electronic equipment. This can include footstools, music stands, method books, amps, cables, pedals, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I've been playing guitar for 25 years, and this has given me the time to study, perform, and perfect many styles of guitar playing.

I studied classical and flamenco guitar with Robert Guthrie for 4 years before and after my studies in the SMU program. I've also played in jazz and rock ensembles since the age of 14. I studied with Chuck Pangburn, pro jazz cat, and Brad McLemore, an indie rock songwriter, early on in my studies as an adolescent.

I encourage most students to learn to play on a classical or nylon-string guitar early on in order to develop proper technique, posture, sensitivity, and sensibility. I also encourage all students to learn to sight-read at a very early point in their studies. Once, this hurdle is cleared many other challenges are easily surpassed.

Presently, I am developing a new method which incorporates solfeggio, blues and popular music forms, and improvisational playing. I also am exploring the vanguard of new guitar technology such as the Moog Guitar, analog effects, and various guitar synthesizers.

I try to introduce an understanding of music theory early on so that students develop a full comprehension of not only the written language of music, but also the sonic-aural language of music.

Perry takes the time to explain flamenco and related styles deeply and thoroughly. He also provides detailed micro-scale feedback on hand/arm placement, orientation, range and which muscle groups to engage. But more than the technical, he has an awesome vibe and makes learning guitar quite an enjoyable experience.

Excellent Guitar Teacher

Within a month of lessons with Perry, my daughter was in love with the guitar! Perry is professional and great with kids! He couples the basics with discourse about genre, and is very encouraging! Perry helped guide us in the right guitar and accessories to get us set up before the lessons began, which was incredibly helpful. We are very glad we selected Perry to teach our 7-year old to play guitar and look forward to watching her grow under his guidance.

Tammye has been my daughters piano teacher going on five years now. She is laid back and my daughter has always enjoyed playing the piano. She has never dreaded lesson or asked to not play. I've heard of some kids crying after lessons and this has never ever been the case with Tamye. My daughter started out loving lessons with Tamye and still does... she is in middle school now. She has never felt pressured. She has always come away from the lessons having learned something new and now plays beautifully. This year my five year old boy has started lessons with Ms. Tammye and he also is enjoying them. Tamye has been the perfect teacher for our family. We took a summer break to try out a local music school (same price and we had to drive there) and it didn't compare to the quality we get with Ms. Tammye. As long as our kids are playing piano they'll be having Ms. Tammye as their teacher.

This "teacher" doesn't know anything about music, let alone playing the trumpet, or any instrument. Complete HACK with zero skills who shouldn't even be charging $15 an hour!!! Also, she was extremely rude in all correspondence with me. I'm beyond thankful that I didn't have to smell her likely putrid, unwashed, unkempt stench through the webcam or in person. Stay FAR away.

I'm currently a Honor student at the College of Music in the University of North Texas.
I studied a 6 year piano degree in Spain, finishing the degree with the highest grade in piano performance.
I teach classical piano but I can also teach other styles! My specialization is Classical Music and if you want to learn the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and many more, I can help you! In any case, if you want to I can teach you other styles as well as how to play the songs you love.
I also love teaching music theory. Music theory is the knowledge that let us learn and understand how harmony, melody and rhythm intertwine in a musical piece. Knowing music theory can even help you expand your artistic skills and be able to write songs or improvise.
I have experience teaching children in Spain and in Texas now for several years.
Come a
nd let me help you learn how to play the piano, you will enjoy it! Fill your life with music!

I speak Spanish as a native because I was raised for many years in Spain. Therefore, I can teach grammar, writing and perfect pronunciation.
If you are asking yourself if it is the same language than Central and Southern American Spanish, yes. It is the same language. The only difference that we have is in vocabulary or different expressions in some occasions. An example would be how British vocabulary and American vocabulary differ. In any case, it is the same exact language.

If you want to learn piano, music or Spanish, I can help you achieve your goals, it is worth it!!

About Clay
I started playing guitar when I was 14 years old, and I continued to pursue music as a serious profession when I attended McLennan College for Commercial Songwriting. Now I am currently teaching guitar and basic drums for a music school, while also performing in a live Top 40 cover band. I consider myself a serious songwriter as well, and I have been writing and recording my own tracks for 8 years.

I encourage my students to bring in music they are interested in learning because learning how to play guitar or drums is more than just theory and techniques. Music is meant to be fun! I also personalize each lesson for every student based on what they are looking to learn and improve. Every student learns at a different pace and there is no rush to get where they want to be -- patience is just as important as practice.

About Diana
Diana Buckholz, B.A., Music, Texas Woman's University, Summa Cum Laude and B.A., Political Science, University of Michigan, Cum Laude, Former Treasurer of Carrollton Music Teachers Association, TMTA, MTNA & Suzuki Member, fine tuned her natural musical talents during her studies at one of the most prestigious arts schools in the United States, Interlochen Arts Academy. While there, she also studied various other genres, such as poetry and dance. Her language experience that she infuses into every Voice lesson comes both from formal education, and from personally being widely travelled. A person of many interests, she is still just a regular gal with activities outside of music devoted to her pets, yoga, domestic errands, and spending time with family.

Diana has experience acting in theatrical and musical productions, as well as commer
cial voice-over work. She has a long history of competitions and Detroit Metro area show choir performances, in the Seaway Chorale for Voices of the Young and Youth Sings, from the elementary to high school years. She competed in Solo and Ensemble Music Festivals, where she won first place medals in Voice and Symphonic Band Performance. Her Instrumental Ensemble competition experience was gained through her past Marching Band and Symphony performances with the Trombone. Her most recent endeavors include solo performances sponsored by Voces Intimae and a Choir Performance at the Lincoln Center (NYC) in April 2015, as well as playing in an ensemble as a jazz pianist at Collin County Community College's Jazz Camp. She also has also dabbled in composition, having created a three movement arrangement while studying at TWU, one movement of which her professor described as "Chopinesque." Always willing for a new adventure, she took up Guitar this year, and now teaches beginners basic chords for students who want to learn fun sing-along music.

She works with students that have developmental and physical disabilities, having been certified in caring for these individuals since at least three decades ago.

My children have been taking piano and voice lessons with Diana for years. Diana makes the lessons fun and exciting for them. She primarily follows the Suzuki method, but teaches the children from a variety of lesson books to incorporate more theory and make them more well rounded in music. They are well prepared for festivals and theory tests. She also encourages more challenging pieces to keep them interested in practice and lessons. We enjoy the recitals that she sets up, usually at a senior living center.

If your looking for a great in home music teacher- look no further. Diana has been teaching my children voice lessons for about a year. She has worked with them on specific songs and the basics of beginning vocal training. Diana takes her job seriously and sets appropriate expectations for girls to meet. Most importantly, she is teaching them an appreciation for music, confidence to use their voice and a foundation for a lifetime love of music.
Selfishly, I love the hour of hearing their voices fill my home.

About Miguel
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University in May of 2016, where I spent five years studying clarinet pedagogy, improving my individual ensemble and musicianship skills, and learning how to be a music educator.

I teach students of all ages, and I've taught middle and high school students, beginning and intermediate students. Every student learns at a different rate, in different ways, and I have a consistent, but flexible teaching style depending on the student. For beginners I use the Standards of Excellence book for developing tone, musicianship, and reading music. As for intermediate and advanced students, I have a variety of methods and exercises that I've gained during my time at SHSU.

During my time at SHSU, I was a member of both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, as well as several s
mall chamber groups. I am also a member of the orchestra for Rockwall Summer Musicals, where I have been involved with three professional level productions.

I believe everyone deserves to be a part of the musical world, and my passion is introducing people and students of all ages into this world.
