Music is my life! I graduated at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, NC and received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with a Concentration in Voice (2005). I have been involved in musical productions as early as my middle school years. Some of the many musicals I have participated include Anything Goes 1999, lead role: Reno Sweeney, Grease 2000, role: Rizzo, Waitress Lead: Jen (1997). During my college years I participated in Operas, and Operettas such as: Orpheus and the Underworld (production won first place at the National Opera Association Opera Production Competition), Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Magic Flute, Pirates of Penzance, Cavalleria Rusticana. I became a member of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, Music Educators of North Carolina (MENC), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and the North
Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE).

Over the past six years I have privately instructed over fifty students, many of which have been accepted to prestigious camps and ensembles such as:

- US School of Performing Arts, New York NY
- Northwestern University National High School Institute Theatre Arts Division IL

With my experience, attention to detail, and ability to bring out the best in each student; I know I can help you achieve your musical goals.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that every students has more potential then they realize. My goal is to help bring out their potential while providing a professional, personal, and enjoyable experience. I give my best and I expect my students to do the same.

My background is in classical music and this provides a solid foundation to successfully transition into all genres of music. During a standard lesson, I will begin with vocal warm-ups, sight reading and ear training exercises. The bulk of the lesson will consist of teaching them to sing correctly, melodic expressions, and performance showmanship. 90% of singing is feeling and 10% is technique...meaning you have to feel how things are done with your body correctly to understand and continue to model the correct and safe way to sing any style of music. I finish every lesson with constructive criticism, positive reinforcement, and a quick summary of how to prepare at home for the next lesson.

My teaching philosophy is that a great teacher is measure by the success of their students. I understand that each student learns differently, therefore, I always adjust my teaching style to meet the needs of the individual students.

About Jerry
Jerry W. holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University, as well as a Master of Music Pedagogy and Performance from Oklahoma State University. He is a published research assistant as well as the author of 6 books on sight reading. He is also the inventor of the game "guitar bingo." He cites Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Bill Lafleur, Alex Machacek and Monte Montgomery to be among his most powerful influences.

Lesson format is as follows: First, a short drill of fundamentals (this can include scales, arpeggios, exercises, etc.). Second, a short segment of reading. Third, the study of a piece of music (usually in the favored style chosen by the student). This third section of the lesson is very important as the focus is on the practical application of the fundamentals previ
ously studied. Fourth, a short segment involving improvisation (again, typically in the style of music chosen by the student).

About Jordan
13 years ago, I picked up a guitar and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am a worship leader for Fellowship of The Parks, an on-staff music-producer and session musician at Drive35 Productions, and a passionate instructor.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for multiple independent rock bands, the most notable being an indie psychedelic band called Tod The Fox. I have led worship for many churches including Grace Fellowship UMC, Brazos Pointe Church, The Cornerstone College Ministry at UTA, FUMC Allen, Living Life Church, and Fellowship of the Parks in varying capacities. At UTA, I studied Jazz and Classical guitar under acclaimed guitarists Sam Walker and Billy Robertson. Here,
I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, and music-production extensively. I graduated Magna Cume Laude with a Bachelor of Music-Media from UTA. After school, I spent 9 months interning/assistant engineering with acclaimed musician/composer/producer Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio in Dallas- whose credits include being the drummer for The Michael Gungor Band and Desperation Band. Then, got hired as an on-staff session musician and music producer at Drive35 Productions. I have also played guitar, mandolin, and bass for multiple pit orchestras and guitar for the North Lake Jazz Ensemble with director Jim Eger.

My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests. Whether that is classical guitar method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in between.

I have an excellent internet connection and microphone set up for online lessons. I also utilize screen-sharing to make the lessons as close to real life as possible.

A few of my favorite artists include: Michael Gungor, Joe Pass, Andrew Bird, Chopin, Led Zeppelin, Glen Hansard, and Radiohead.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will vary significantly from student to student. Not only does every student have different goals in mind, they all learn differently as well. I do my best to customize my lessons for each student's goals and needs. A typical guitar, bass, ukulele, or piano lesson may involve music-reading, chord studies, technical work, scale practice, theory, and of course learning awesome songs!

I consider myself a healthy balance between professional and light-hearted. As much as I want to make efficient use of the lesson-time, my primary goal is for the student to truly understand and enjoy music.

I have worked hard to be a flexible musician and teacher. I am competent in jazz, rock, classical, contemporary, blues, worship, country, and beyond and will be happy to teach any (or all) of these styles to any student.

Jordan is awesome! My son is 6 and he is very patient with him and doesn’t make the lesson overwhelming which is something I was worried about. Jordan is very pleasant and talented. He is also great at communicating and responds quickly if you have a question later in the week. Would highly recommend him to anyone and any age interested in learning an instrument. My son is still excited to be learning to play the guitar which I’m always surprised because to get better it takes practice and dedication. Thanks Jordan for making it fun too!

Event after more than 13 years of guitar instruction with Riley, there is always a new technique or song structure lesson to learn. He knows an incredible amount about music, performance, and (to be honest) living a good life. He is an inspiration to me both musically and personally, and his enthusiasm for both is unmatched.

In my opinion, I have very little natural talent for music. I hadn't played an instrument with any proficiency in the past. Well, I had played air guitar and guitar hero before, but neither of them really prepared me for actually playing a guitar. Sometimes I'd sing in the safety of my commute to work, but that's about it.

Riley helped me pick a guitar, gave me a book, and play along recordings. He had me playing classic chords in about two lessons. I can now read guitar music and have come up with some of my own tunes. I wasnt a very good student at first, but I showed up for my lessons. Just that took me a long way until I actually wanted to practice and really started to enjoy my guitar.

I was missing something in my life - all I did was work, eat, and sleep. I hadn't considered music as an outlet. My wife just signed me up one night and then told me I was going to learn something new. I was kind of mad at her at first (and hence my resistance to practicing), but I'm really glad she did that for me - and I thank her every time I play guitar.

Riley is great - he has a ton of patience with me. Considering that he went to one of the best guitar schools in the country (MIT/GIT), and can pretty much play wherever he wants, this really shows how much he loves to teach. Riley can play the obscure tune, pop, metal, classical guitar (he's got me on Beethoven now), and he even played yngvei with serious proficiency. The man has mastered the guitar and wants to teach. He is a working musician, and has had gigs every week that I've known him. He understands the music business, so he can give sound advice if you want a music career. So far as lessons go, it's just a matter of practicing what he tells you. There is no guitar, amp, or pick that can make you sound better. But Riley can.

I wish I (or my wife) had signed me up a long time ago. Best money I spend each month. Anyway, I better get back to practicing.

About Melody
My musical experience began at the age of 4 on the piano. I have been classically trained for most of my life. I have performed on soundtracks, played with bands (in genres from Jazz to Metal), and accompanied choirs. I have taught intro to piano and music theory since the age of 15. Currently, I teach throughout the Dallas metroplex, play in several bands, as well as write music for Television and Film.

I see music as a language. Once it is mastered, it can be shared with anyone, anywhere. My goal as an instructor is to provide my students with an opportunity to discover their own musical potentials. From breaking the ice from playing for the very first time, to perfecting even the most structured and difficult pieces, I feel there are no limits. I feel comfortable teaching in any genre and always tailor my classes to match my studen
ts own individual learning style. In my lessons, I highlight important principles right from the start, such as posture, proper fingering, and rhythm training, to ensure no bad habits form that later are hard to break. As we become more confident in our playing, we transfer some of the traits contained within us. Those traits become the character and style of our "musical speech," which will help to define us as musicians. I recommend books and provide sheet music when we start learning songs. Learning music with me has been said by many of my students as, "the most fun they have ever had playing music."

In addition to music, I teach science in the subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology. I have my 200 hr yoga teaching certification and teach private class to aid people in living a healthy, fulfilling life.

Thanks again for reading my profile. Hope to meet you soon.

I can't recommend Melody enough! Melody teaches my 11 year old daughter piano once a week and we absolutely love her! She is highly professional while remaining accessible and fun. She is intuitive and skilled in helping my child grasp and practice the formal structures of playing and reading music, but she also remains flexible and open to the non-classical side of music! It is rare to find a teacher of this caliber.

About Jamie Leigh
I am a professional vocalist and pianist. I perform and do studio work all over the country. I have studied music at North Texas State University (UNT), and at New England Conservatory in Boston. I am classically trained; however; my career has been made singing and playing comtemporary popular music. I also have professional theatre experience as well.

I have had the pleasure of teaching many students who have gone on to professional music careers. I am a very caring teacher, and will do my best to help a student become the best singer or player they can become. I am able to teach all styles of music. I am a very fun teacher; yet challenging teacher. I am encouraging, and I have years of training to share.

I have been performing in my band SHAZAM! as an encore favorite across the country. In 2012 I was a featured vocalist on Dymaxi
on Vehicle's CD....that recording won the coveted Artist In Music Award in Los Angeles. I have had a CORI Check as required by law to work with children. I am also a mother myself as well.

I tailor lessons based on the level, talent, skills, and areas needing work in the student's musical development process.I treat students as individuals...similar to a tutor or coaching relationship. Many students are naturally talented, and simply need more direction, and perhaps, technique, and basic music theory knowledge. In vocal study, proper breathing, vocal exercisers to improve singing and flexibility, and strength are part of lessons. In addition; I assist in choosing material, prepping for performances or auditions, and preserving and enhancing the natural voice of the student.

As a piano teacher; I can work with students at all levels as well. I am very good with beginners. I also have more to offer more advanced students in a concentration on technique, and add a music theory component to lessons as it helps them to become a better musician and instrumentalist. Thank you for your time!
