I tailor my approach to each student. Some students require more technical work, some require interpretive. Both are fascinating and can be taught with structure and clarity.
The only thing I love more than playing viola is sharing the joy of music with others! I've received training on violin and viola and can't wait to start teaching you or your child.

Her home studio is beautiful and warm. She always greets me with a smile and knows exactly what our lesson plan and goal for the day will be. Brittany is extremely patient whenever I struggle to grasp a concept, and enthusiastically answers any question I can think to ask. That said, she isn't afraid to push you to try, either, which I very much appreciate!
Brittany is a lot of fun to work with, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her as an instructor.

In my 10+ years of teaching violin to hundreds of students, I've always believed in nurturing a love for playing the instrument and that the best practicing stems from passion and playfulness. Before moving to Chicago, I kept a full teaching studio in Santa Monica, CA and helped start several youth music programs. I approach all levels with a hybrid of traditional and modern methods and an emphasis on technical proficiency through improvisation and creativity.
Besides being passionate about teaching, I'm a professional touring and recording violinist. I'm proud to say that my students have won top awards (Topanga Fiddle Competition, Royal Conservatory Music Development Program) and placed in some of the top youth orchestras in the country. I maintained a studio of 20-30 students for many years in Los Angeles at the SOL-LA Music Academy, before recently moving to Chicago.
As a music instructor, I am eager to cater to the needs of each individual child and to provide them with engaging musical experiences in supportive environments. I have previously provided violin, viola, and piano lessons to students of all ages both through Thompson Tutoring in Portage, Michigan and Reverb Lessons in Chicago, Illinois. I have approximately six years of private teaching experience.
I recently graduated from Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts with a Master of Music Degree in Viola Performance. In 2016, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Viola Performance and Spanish. My performance experience includes both local and international venues. I have performed locally throughout the Southwest Michigan area, in orchestras such as the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Whiting Park Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symphony Orchestra, and Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. I have also performed internationally ...

Never too late to begin learning/relearning (classical/pop) violin! My lessons focus on both sightreading and aural skills to make a well-rounded musician.
I make sure I am meeting the specific needs of each student, help them reach their individual goals, and most importantly, make lessons fun.
In the past 6 years, I have taught students of all ages, ranging from children to seniors. You are never ever too old to learn the piano or the violin. You may not be the next Chopin, but with practice and dedication, you will eventually be able to play the mass majority of piano/violin repertoire.
Strong fundamentals (scales/chords/arpeggios) are important, but I also remember to make music fun and not boring by providing diverse selections of supplemental (pop/ragtime/blues) pieces.

I'm the current student at Roosevelt University, studying Performance Diploma in Violin, and also I'm had Bachelor Degree in Piano. Teaching in Chinese and English is ok.
I still keep practicing by myself that I will know what the student would have trouble. Whether the student want to play with interesting or professional, we can figure out our own tempo to learn the music.
Why end up wasting time fixing bad habits when you can do it right the first go? Beginners need the MOST attention to their foundation, and need teachers who can set them up correctly for success.
I’ve been traveling and meeting with the most esteemed pedagogues from leading conservatories who have taught great artists such as Joshua Bell, James Ehnes, and other leading violinists of the century, and observing their students. The most basic common denominator among young prodigies is that they have a great foundation technique from the start.
Here are some things you should consider while looking for a teacher:
· Good education and high level of artistry of the teacher are important especially for beginners.
· Your teacher should be inspiring! Both musically and in daily life. My teachers who’ve influenced me the most are my role models in music and life.
· Music teachers often teach numerous instruments, but it is impossible to teach good foundations when the teacher is a Jack of all trades, master of none.
· Great teachers give you undivided attention and are persistent.
· Lessons should be non-judgmental learning space.
As a violinist whose earliest years were filled with musical inspiration, but without appropriate guidance, I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing what it takes to play violin well. It is my sincere hope to teach my students from the get-go with both inspiration and structured technique.

For the best experience, we typically recommend 60-minute violin lessons. However, students looking for a more affordable option may want to consider a shorter lesson length of 45 or 30 minutes. On average, 45-minute violin lessons are 14% less expensive at $51, and 30-minute lessons cost 34% less at $39.

When you're practicing the drums and learning new rhythms, one of the best ways to perfect your skills is to have something to copy and imitate. Playing along with your favorite songs is a great idea, but you need to make sure you're practicing the right way. All of that fun could go to waste if you're not targeting the proper patterns! Selecting Your Songs When your drum teacher gives you new rhythms to practice, ask him or her which songs might have some examples of these rhythms. This is … Read More
