"Experienced violin teacher of 29 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical violin skills. I specialize in Suzuki , and fiddle Celtic music etc...,

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Suzuki Method

About Dan
I am a member of the Chichago Northwest Symphony Orchestra. I have been instructing students from kindergarten to high-school all over Chicago area for the past thirteen years. My highest accomplishment is having a high-school sophomore student playing first chair first violin on Chamber Orchestra and third chair first violin in Symphonic Orchestra at Maine Township High School, Park Ridge, Illinois. Other accomplishments are having students prepared for Granquist Memorial Music Competition, Geneva Illinois.

My lessons are always focused on adapting the violin practice to fit the character of the individual student. Besides learning good violin performance practices, the student will shape up character by developing specific neural pathways that will help in child development as well as overall cognitive activity.

Learning to play
violin not only opens the mind for greater understanding of artistic expressions but also adds to the quality of experiencing life more complex otherwise not possible in absence of music.

I am a current student of Dan's and have enjoyed his lessons. I can feel the improvement since starting. Initially I was self-taught and debated about taking private lessons, but now I am very happy I did. I would highly recommend Dan as a violin instructor.

Hello! My name is Alison and I'm looking forward to working with you! I've been teaching privately for eight years now and I'm excited to be able to share my love of music with you too! I believe that music-making should first and foremost be a joyous activity that stimulates, challenges, and rewards. While some individuals may have more "natural talent," with the right instruction and work ethic any student can progress to an advanced level, regardless of ability level or age.

I will work with you and your family to create the best possible learning situation. I love to involve parents in the lessons (and it's always more effective when the parents can become the teacher during practice sessions!), and tailor my lesson plans to meet each student where they are. I take into account age, ability level, personality, and general interests.

I am currently a Performance Certificate student at DePaul University where I study with Dr. Olga Kaler. I also hold a Masters of Music degree

About Alison
I believe that music-making should first and foremost be a joyous activity that stimulates, challenges, and rewards. I believe that while some individuals may have more "natural talent," with the right instruction and work ethic any student can progress to an advanced level, regardless of ability level or age.

My job as the teacher is to make you, the student, the best violinist and musician that you can be. Lessons combine elements of Suzuki training such as emphasis on ear training, parental involvement (for young children), and memorization with traditional methods of teaching technique and note-reading. A how-to of practicing, improvisation, music theory, and history are also integrated into the lessons. Repertoire is determined by student interest and needs.

I have taught privately since 2006. In 2011 I won the University of
Missouri's Community Music Program Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition, I have experience as a violin sectional coach, camp counselor and assistant teacher at Columbia Montessori School in Missouri.

if you look at alison's list of accomplishments and academic
achievements you have no choice but to be impressed. however,
all that is meaningless unless it can be successfully imparted to
the student and that is where alison excels. i have fortunately
been her student for over a year and from the very beginning
when i admittedly knew nothing she introduced the foundations
of playing the violin in a simple, methodical, straight forward
manner with each lesson building on the last and backed up with
understandable explanations that showcased the depth of her
knowledge in all aspects of the violin which made every lesson
instructional and interesting. i've stayed with alison because of
her patience and positive attitude, her open acceptance of
endless questions, her sharing with me the necessity of having
realistic expectations, and most importantly, in spite of teaching
violin being a job, she genuinely cares about me improving. and
as if all this isn't enough she adds humor and charm to her
lessons. thanks, alison!

Allow me to help you bring out the great Virtuoso in yourself!

About Josh
Ever wanted to be the next Dr. Dre?? How about the next Harry Fraud. Metro Boomin, or Sonny Digital???

I have studied Audio Engineering with Audio Masterclass and at the School of Audio Engineering for the past 4 years.

I am extremely confident in my producer and engineer curriculum. I will bring my equipment to you, or you can come to my basement studio.

Check out my work at Soundcloud: YSHWH

I am a dynamic and patient teacher. I am a graduate of the Amherst College, History department. I started playing violin when I was six. At twelve, I switched to viola and have been playing both ever since! I studied under Lucinda Ali at the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, where I gained an immense amount of experience in classical performance and understanding of the Suzuki Method. I studied viola for years under Robert Fisher of the Chic
ago Symphonietta. I also studied under Marko Dreher and Roland Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago.

I can teach Suzuki method and traditional methods. I am developing a curriculum that implements contemporary music.

I work with student to identify strengths and areas of focus so that each lesson something is new, exciting and useful. I am still very connected to my old teachers and have a great body of resources to expose students to for performance experience, sheet music and new teachers should we discontinue.

I love viola and teaching it to new enthusiastic students (or even the ones forced to play!) and would be glad to be your next teacher.

NOTE:
While I do teach Ableton, my area of expertise is Native Instruments' Maschine. So if you are a new to Maschine and Hip Hop, Dance, House, or ChillWave beat production, I am available to teach in both Maschine and Ableton!

Experienced lesson teacher for 6 years in beginner/intermediate/advanced violin and also beginner/intermediate in voice, piano, viola, cello, and guitar. My string students along with learning skills to help them perform in Orchestra will also learn solo technique. I work with Suzuki method and Essential Elements for strings along with using other genres of music. Students will have fun while also learning music reading, theory and technique.

About Felicia
I graduated with a bachelors in music education at Western Illinois University in 2012. At the university I received talent grants to play in the symphony orchestra as a violinist, I also sang in the school of music top choir. After graduating I immediately was offered a position at a music studio in Geneva and have been successfully working for them for the last 5 years. For the last 3 years I have worked at a middle school in Elmhurst as a choir director and also was the vocal director for 3 musicals and head director for 2 plays. I have background with special education students from ages 5-13.

Although I am primarily a violinist and vocalist I also teach up to intermediate in piano, viola, cello, and acoustic guitar at the music studio. I believe that it is important for the student to be able to learn music theory at their skill l
evel, problem solving, and also enjoying what they play. Beginning lessons will give students a strong foundation of their instrument but adding on solo music.

I approach each student as an individual. Every violinist is different, and I help the student approach the violin in the most natural way for them. I integrate theory, eurythmics, ear-training and aural skills into every violin lesson. The student will learn to read music, clap, sing and play with a metronome, and use those skills to play the violin.

About Rachel
Rachel Moore began to study the violin at the age of 6, and has now been playing for 17 years. She recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from Roosevelt University, where she studied with Stefan Hersh. She has studied at Meadowmount School of Music and the Bowdoin International Music Festival during her summers, and made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2012. She now teaches out of her home and at Upbeat Music School in Chicago.
