A beginner piano student will have the opportunity to learn the basics of reading sheet music. First, however, we will focus on playing simple one handed songs and focusing on becoming comfortable with the keys and treble clef note reading. Afterwards we would move onto learning major and minor chords, major and minor scales, pentatonic scales, rhythm patterns, and then finally practice more difficult songs by reading sheet music while playing treble and bass clef together. This will provide the learner with opportunities to play songs that they enjoy.

Enjoyed the first lesson a lot! We spent time going over basic open chords, different ways to finger them and then we worked on transitioning between them. Michael was very patient and encouraging. We also touched on some basic music theory... really ooking forward to the upcoming lessons!

My lessons are geared toward the individual student. I spend the first lesson getting to know the student's strengths and weaknesses, history, hobbies, and general feelings about music. This helps me to better understand what the student (or parent) is hoping to gain from taking piano lessons. My lessons are meant to produce the best possible success, and most importantly, a great time and a permanent love of music.

About Grace

I started piano lessons at the age of 3 and continued through middle school. I played the flute in the high school band and continued to pursue my love of music in college where I joined the Piano Ensemble and received a degree in Music from DePaul University. I graduated in 2015 with high honors

My 5-year old twins had their first lesson with Grace today. She was on time, got right to work, and connected with them both really well (back to back lessons). She was professional with us, and had both girls giggling at points in their lesson. They loved her and excited to practice, which is all we could ask for. We look forward to seeing her next week!

The teacher seems like she’s always in a hurry. She leaves a few minutes before it ends. She’s friendly but doesn’t make real conversation with the parent to update about my child’s progress. Knowledgeable though coz my daughter learned fast. She. Would’ve been perfect if she had a great personality

Grace was very sweet and great with my 7 year old daughter.

My number one priority is making you successful at whatever you want to achieve by learning to play this beautiful instrument and believe me, if you do half as well as the other people I taught, the only problem that you will have, is that we didn't start 3 months ago, sounds fair enough?

I have various way to teach and develop students’ playing skills for both technically and musically! I had been teaching Oberlin College’s students for two years as a secondary piano teacher. I think a wonderful piano teacher is a main key for improving student’s playing skill in short time. Choosing a right teacher can lead student to the direct way of improving. Otherwise, student needs time to change their playing skills due to “wrong or bad teacher.”

About Xiaotong

I got Bachelor degree of music in piano performance in Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2017 with eighty percent of scholarship! I got Master degree of music in piano performance in New England Conservatory in 2019 with half scholarship! I had my recitals done all over the United States such as N

He uses a combination of methods to best suit the interests of each of my daughters. They really look forward to their weekly lessons. I have seen significant progress in their piano skills. Mr, Garcia is very good at acknowledging their accomplishments which is extremely important for young, beginning piano players. I highly recommend him."

"My 6 years old daughter had a wonderful experience with Amy in Boston, MA. In general she has issues focusing on tasks, but Amy was always able to keep her attention and motivate her to do her best. Amy is very personable, professional and most of all patient, a very important skill to have when dealing with young students. She assigns homework and rewards students for it, helping them to practice with consistency and take pride of their accomplishments. I highly recommend Amy if you are in Columbus area and looking for a positive and enjoyable learning experience."

6 New Ideas for Piano Warm-Ups

We all know the importance of warming up - but do you actually commit to a proper warm-up every time you sit down to play the piano?  If you're in a rush, it's easy to forget it.  However, an effective warm-up is essential for avoiding injuries, such as tendonitis, and can also help increase the dexterity of your fingers and hands, allowing you to reach certain tough chords. Before you get into the "meat and potatoes" of your practice session, you'll want to spend a good 10-15 minutes focus …
