About Nicholas
Nick comes from a family of four generations of music in the GREEK/Balkan repertoire. He graduated from Columbia College of Chicago with a concentration in Music Composition in December of 2009. Currently teaching and performing professionally, Nick enjoys all styles of music, but has been declared as an "old soul" by many of his friends. He enjoys playing lots of Motown, funk, and jazz, but is proficient in Classical, Rock, and Blues as well. When not playing music (rarely), he is a Board member for the GivingBackPack Foundation which provides school supplies to underprivileged children. Nick's dedication to education is shown through his music and his personal volunteer hours, he feels his diverse background gives his students an advantage to a broader perspective of music and theory.

I hadn't played the trumpet in 30 years. My first lesson with Nicholas was like starting from scratch. He is very knowledgeable, polite, professional, and definitely patient. I feel that that homework Nicholas assigned was spot on. I'm playing better already after only two days. I would certainly recommend him to a friend.

Nicholas really tailored the lessons to what I needed. They weren't cookie-cutter lessons, and I appreciated that. He answered all the questions I had, and helped me understand some concepts that I never would have gotten just learning online. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.

Nicholas was very patient, took the time to write down information that was helpful (very helpful). Nicholas understood where I was in reference to me knowing nothing about the guitar and he is very knowledgeable with the music trade. He was very clear and kept things simple. I truly enjoy his instructions, can't wait for the next lesson.

"Experienced violin teacher of 29 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical violin skills. I specialize in Suzuki , and fiddle Celtic music etc...,

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

I have taught private violin lessons to young beginning and intermediate students since I was in high school and beyond. Brittany is absolutely one of the most delightful instructors I've been lucky enough to encounter. I came to her as an adult knowing nothing about either music or violin. In the months I've been taking lessons with her, I feel very proud of what I've learned so far.

Her home studio is beautiful and warm. She always greets me with a smile and knows exactly what our lesson plan and goal for the day will be. Brittany is extremely patient whenever I struggle to grasp a concept, and enthusiastically answers any question I can think to ask. That said, she isn't afraid to push you to try, either, which I very much appreciate!

Brittany is a lot of fun to work with, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her as an instructor.

Suzuki Method

About Dan
I am a member of the Chichago Northwest Symphony Orchestra. I have been instructing students from kindergarten to high-school all over Chicago area for the past thirteen years. My highest accomplishment is having a high-school sophomore student playing first chair first violin on Chamber Orchestra and third chair first violin in Symphonic Orchestra at Maine Township High School, Park Ridge, Illinois. Other accomplishments are having students prepared for Granquist Memorial Music Competition, Geneva Illinois.

My lessons are always focused on adapting the violin practice to fit the character of the individual student. Besides learning good violin performance practices, the student will shape up character by developing specific neural pathways that will help in child development as well as overall cognitive activity.

Learning to play
violin not only opens the mind for greater understanding of artistic expressions but also adds to the quality of experiencing life more complex otherwise not possible in absence of music.

I have been teaching classical violin for over 6 years, and have found the Suzuki method to be quite reliable. This method uses listening/ear training, repetition, and encouragement to help students develop technique while cultivating an extensive repertoire of music. I supplement my Suzuki lessons with basic theory, note reading, and an emphasis on practice techniques and artistry, and encourage experienced students to explore classical and traditional repertoire outside of the Suzuki method.

About Miriam-Rose
Hello! My name is Miriam-Rose, and I have been teaching violin/fiddle to students of all levels and ages for over six years. I was trained classically in the Suzuki method from a very young age, and also have a significant background in traditional music, specifically Scottish fiddle. During my time at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, I created my own degree with a focus on Scottish music, and also became the third place winner of the 2012 National Scottish Fiddle Championship.

In addition to my background in music, I have a degree in Ballet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music. I have been teaching ballet since 2010, and have taught and danced professionally here in the Chicago area since 2013.

Thanks, and I look forward to working with you!

Very good at explaining concepts in a second, or sometimes third, way so that her student can make an inner connection. Allow me to help you bring out the great Virtuoso in yourself!

About Josh
Ever wanted to be the next Dr. Dre?? How about the next Harry Fraud. Metro Boomin, or Sonny Digital???

I have studied Audio Engineering with Audio Masterclass and at the School of Audio Engineering for the past 4 years.

I am extremely confident in my producer and engineer curriculum. I will bring my equipment to you, or you can come to my basement studio.

Check out my work at Soundcloud: YSHWH

I am a dynamic and patient teacher. I am a graduate of the Amherst College, History department. I started playing violin when I was six. At twelve, I switched to viola and have been playing both ever since! I studied under Lucinda Ali at the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, where I gained an immense amount of experience in classical performance and understanding of the Suzuki Method. I studied viola for years under Robert Fisher of the Chic
ago Symphonietta. I also studied under Marko Dreher and Roland Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago.

I can teach Suzuki method and traditional methods. I am developing a curriculum that implements contemporary music.

I work with student to identify strengths and areas of focus so that each lesson something is new, exciting and useful. I am still very connected to my old teachers and have a great body of resources to expose students to for performance experience, sheet music and new teachers should we discontinue.

I love viola and teaching it to new enthusiastic students (or even the ones forced to play!) and would be glad to be your next teacher.

NOTE:
While I do teach Ableton, my area of expertise is Native Instruments' Maschine. So if you are a new to Maschine and Hip Hop, Dance, House, or ChillWave beat production, I am available to teach in both Maschine and Ableton!

It is important for me to teach the building blocks of music: scales, circle of fifths, and working with technique to make learning pieces easier. We will teach you about the parts of your instrument inside and out and even stretching methods to help keep you limber to prevent any injury. I teach not only classical music, but also jazz, rock, and contemporary. Keeping my students engaged and passionate about what they are learning is key.

About Sage
As a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music, I attended the most prestigious contemporary music school in the world. I was exposed to so many amazing styles of music and rubbed shoulders with the most incredible musicians you can imagine (and performed alongside them)! I have taken my experiences and knowledge from Berklee and infused it into my teaching style. I do use Suzuki method because I believe it is an excellent foundation to work upon, but I also think that jazz and contemporary studies are a great way to expand one's horizon and learn about music in an entirely new and fun way!

Students can expect to work on foundational skills with scales, right hand and left hand exercises, and a variety of technical studies in addition to repertoire study that will be selected based on the students needs and ability levels.

About Hannah
I'm a violin teacher comfortable working with beginners to advanced students. My students have gotten into summer festivals, prepared for local competitions, and worked on a variety of repertoire. My teaching is based around a good technical foundation and incorporates scale practice, right hand and left hand exercises, and etudes along with repertoire that suits the student. I am comfortable teaching Suzuki Books I-IV but am not a certified Suzuki instructor and always supplement the repertoire and technique practice.

At home practice is paramount to efficient and valuable lessons. For younger students I expect that they practice once per day for an equivalent amount of time as the duration of our lesson, while older students should practice more based on their goals and repertoire demands.
